    This is the only part of the car I can show off for now.I don't know why toyota decided to hide the 1zz under that stupid plastic cover.A little wire tuck and some paint later and she's a beauty!

    I'm thinking of going gunmetal grey with the intake and tucking the injector harness underneath for a cleaner look, the outside of the car is bone-stock hubcaps and all.My plans are to add some boost, it would make an awesome sleeper.

    Yeah I had plans of boosting as well, you can safely boost 9-10 psi on stock internals with a proper tune and make suprisingly nice gains. I would probably run 8 psi on a daily driver just to be safe. I'd also recommend doing the celica gt intake manifold and throttle body swap also, help it breathe more air = more power.

    I don't see the point in swapping the aluminum manifold for the plastic one, when boosting.The money is better spent somewheres else, and you'll never have to worry about cracking the aluminum manifold.The gains if any would be small.

    I have been searching and searching for a picture of the 2zr rods to compare to our 1zz rods since they are interchangeable, I emailed MWR and the answer I got was that they're "not much" bigger but I know they're a business and aren't going to tell me that they will suit me fine instead of buying rods from them.But "not much" means they ARE thicker than our stock rods and therefor will be an upgrade and good enough for the low boost I would be running.

    If you seen the size difference of the throttle body side by side you would see why we do it, you can literally fit the corolla TB opening into the celica TB opening and it's not expensive at all to do. But everyone has their own likes and dislikes, make it your own. As far as the rods I'm not sure I've been asking the same question about the celica head and internals but nobody has given me a straight answer. Bc if I can swap the head rather than building mine I'd rather do that if the celica head is built better. Would deffinately be more cost efficient.

    I know the throttle body is bigger.You can run the celica head, Milky had one on his corolla along with the 6 spd manual transmission search for his posts on here.

    I know it's interchangeable but are the internals bigger is there any advantage of using it over the corolla head?

    Valves are bigger by around 1mm if I remember and cams are a little bigger.Go on rockauto.com and lookup valves for your car then lookup the celica valves it'll list the valve size.

    Ok I'll have to check that out bc if it's enough of a difference to justify buying then I'll go that route. MWR also has their own stock replacement pistons which are a little bigger than oem and require a little boring 0.5 but it fixes the oil consumption problem. They aren't a bad price at all $189 just need a machine shop to put em in unless you have the means to do it yourself. Here's the link...

    You don't need bigger pistons to fix the oil problem, you buy new rings and a glaze breaker hone.Remove pistons and drill the 2 extra oil hole that the new ones have, give the cylinders a little honing and bobs your uncle! www.toyotanation.com/forum/131-8th-generation-1998-2002/402362-diy-oil-consumption-fix.html

    Yeah I've seen and read about that but I don't have the tools, space, or know how to pull that off so paying a shop is the only way I'll get it fixed and if the motor is gonna be torn down id prefer some new better pistons be installed. So Ima get those put in or some weisco high compression pistons as I'm going for a full NA build.

    I've got the tools besides the $40 hone which I'll be getting and the outdoors is my space just need one of those nice sunny winter days where the ground is still frozen so I don't get cold/wet/sick.Be sure to change the rod bearings the factory ones can fail at stock power levels.

    Yeah I'm thinkin of doing those bc they are already pretty high compression at 10.0:1 then get the mwr rods and bearings for em. Then do stage 3 cam with the necessary upgraded valve train.

    And if I don't do a full all out build I'll probably just do a mildly upgraded stock rebuild with the mwr pistons and a celica gt head, then while I have it apart throw in a light weight flywheel and stage 2 clutch. But I'm really shooting for the NA build I know with a good tune I should hit at least 200 hp no problem.

    Yea def. I mean im a honda dude but I have to say since I picked up the prizm 2yrs ago it has not failed me at all. After fixing some worn out things I started to look into cosmetic upgrades but damn I wish it was manual I would def look into power upgrades shit 200hp I'd beat up on regular Hondas and give a nice shock to other newer cars lol

    Yeah it is would be cheaper but I don't have a core to send in and I'd rather keep mine just in case but nobody else around here will have it. Actually if you break it down the parts aren't that bad of a price just added up all at once seems like a lot but it'd be the same difference if you pieced it together over time. And they only charge 600 to port the head most shops charge at least 1k, at least around here.
