Does anyone know where the tranny dipstick is on the manual? I looked forever and I couldn't find it.

I found the answer in my Haynes Manual.. It doesn't have a dipstick. It has a an inspection "fill hole" somewhere on the case. You pour fluid into the hole, until it runs out, kinda like a differential.

So did you get the 5 speed?
both auto and manual corollas are slow, it's just that manuals are more fun :)

Which one have spoiler? are the power option the same for both car? condition?

if you like 5 speed, i will suggest getting one, mileage is a little lower too

personally, i will take a auto, MT will be very bad when you stuck in traffic during rush hour

Neither has a spoiler. All options are the same. I noticed all the dash options are different. Radio/cubby hole placement.. On every car. You think the MPG will be less with a manual? Luckily I don't sit in traffic too often. I haven't had a manual since my WRX in 2006, so I'm due for another one. The interior of this maroon S is funny. The gauges are red, but a white light appears through the background.. Are there suppose to be red rubber covers over the bulbs?? I don't remember this on my Silver one. Also the black background doesn't appear to have the cross hatches.. Wierd. Maybe I'll swap clusters..

I think MPG suppose to be higher for manual transmission, but for how many miles they have done, the manual one is lower than auto version.
i predict the maroon corolla S have be replace red light with white i assume?

hopefully you find something u like

I would suggest the manual it's funner to drive especially in curvy roads and you can always downshift for better power and acceleration unlike an auto. Plus better gas mileage when you want it lol. Not to mention the extra mods you can do to a manual like short shifter, lightweight flywheel and stage 2 clutch for example. No corollas aren't gonna burn up the dragstrip but with a good suspension setup and a few simple mods they are fun to drive and catches people's attention. That's just my opinion.

    Here is the Maroon Interior

I wonder if the CD player, Cubby hole & radio placement from the Silver car will transfer over?? Anyone know if the CD player hookup is already behind the dash on the S models??

Matt, the box in where suppose the radio of the maroon car is the cd box/ changer ( similar to those CD changer in trunk), which is one of the option other than 1 din cd player when the car is new . i think the factory wiring should be there and all should be same. but i think you will upgrade your deck to one with aux in and USB lol

i think both since are S, the all have 3 spoke black steering wheel already lol

Yea, both have the same steering wheel. I just like the way the silver interior (dah) is set up better.

I hated the radio being way down in the dash with the cd player being up high like that so I swapped them. Safer with the radio closer to the road view. Just do like I did and get a usb radio installed in the maroon one and that way you get to have your storage compartment below unlike with the silver one. I like the storage box with the door much better than the open storage box that was under my radio and above the cup holder since items always slid out of it during acceleration but with the door you'll have no issue with that.

haha, so which one did you buy at last? have you got all the parts out from your old car?

Yeah i like radio position like the sliver one, mine is like that too, and you get the box from your old car as well to save a few bucks

I picked the maroon car up today. Unfortunately the motor starting knocking, and proceeded to get worse as I got closer to home. It got so bad that the car would barely idle. I ended up trailering it the rest of the way home. Now the only logical explanation is to swap the motor from my silver car, to the maroon car. Only question I have is, will the input shaft from the Maroons 5spd tranny mate up to the Silver cars Auto tranny Motor? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think it was bad when I bought it. I drove the piss out of it before I bought it. Maybe I drove it too hard on the way home, and if the oil was as low as I think it was.. This was the result.

The answer to your question is yes the motor from the auto will match up the your manual transmission, I recently just had to do the same thing.

Thanks for the info, if your looking at the front of the car.. Which way does the motor have to tilt, in order to make the easiest connection on/off the trans?

    Yes we've spoke

You should indeed get a usb radio. So much nicer than carrying around all those cd's, plus it's more user friendly and efficient having all the songs on the usb instantly available without having to mess with unloading and loading cd's anymore.

    Bummer about the engine.

    that's really bad luck mate.....

i guess all the project need to stop before figuring the engine issue, are you going to swap the sliver car engine into it, i think u can just swap engine from your wrecked sliver car , it should match up
