Stock 01 front rotor weight?

    Stock 01 front rotor weight?

    Does anyone know how much is the 01 rolla front rotor weight? I need to replace it and I want to get something lighter than the stock. Anyone?

    first i dunno the weight, second if you're looking for perfomance do for a slotted, dimpled or ( i don't reccomend it)>drilled. if you do hard driving or hard stopping you need something that is heavier in weight otherwise you may cause overheating,warping and longer stopping distances (sometimes possible crash). if you want shorter stopping distance get a rotor that is good with a weight to stop ratio and then you should be good to go. don't go ith something lighter or the consequences may be bad, may not at the beginning becuz they are new but after a while it may fail.

    your forward momentum is tranferred into heat through the friction of the pad on the rotor. your vehicles stopping ability is based on a few different factors. starting with the clamping force (multiple pistons) or larger pads (more friction), but youre talking stock system so we will move on. a couple other areas are the ability of the rotor to absorb and contain the heat (basically the rotors mass or weight in your case) and the rotors ability to disipate this heat efficiently. thats the main reason you want larger thicker rotors... more heat can be held and dissapated. so stick to something stock or slotted.... crossdrilled rotors may crack (just hairline cracks) but it takes too much meat out of the rotor.

    its not necessarily bad.... its just that your taking away the rotors ability to store heat. they can also develop hairline cracks.

    hairline cracks caused the front passengers side rotos to crack all the way through on the accord and they were not abused and those were brembos. i have since switched all vehicles to slotted and/or dimpled slotted.

    i have slotted with ceramic brake pads with pretty much a stock system and i have not had any problems of differences then with a solid rotor.

    Thanks for all those informations guys!
    I'm not driving hard anyway, so I'm just looking for shorter stop distance and want a lighter rotor.
    So I think slot rotor is the way to go. Where did you get your slot rotor 01rollas? And how much are they?

    i' don't remember the cost but i think it came out to 215 for the Rolla's front discs. the accord was 245 frnt, and 277 rear. the other cars have higher prices.

    a lighter rotor of the stock size WILL NOT net shorter stopping distances.... just get lighter wheels.

    11lbs, exactly the same as the aftermarket poweslots give or take a few grams.

    I want to get some lighter rims too, but they're too expensive. My rims is pretty ok light already (12lbs something a piece), I won't want to spend $500+ more just to save 1-2lbs. If aftermarket rotor can save me 1-2lbs, I'll put the money in the rotors instead.

    So both aftermarket and stock are same weight? Oh, too bad, but I'll get the aftermarket one anyway since it looks "nicer". :p

    i wish they were 11 lbs because the ones i have seem heavier than the stock ones that were on there before. even the thickness was notable. and the stocks were only a month old when i put the aftermarket ones on.

    well, actually the stock rotors I weighed been resurfaced onced and in service for maybe ~70k miles so it could be more.

    Most people don't try to save unsprung weight by using aftermarket rotors, it's more about the calipers, forged aftermarket calipers could save you about 8lbs a side as well as give you better stopping distance. A more extreme option would be to use coilovers/dampeners with a inverted monotube design.

    i have the stock calipers but i have stainless steel brake lines from a celica, the only problems i have are the calipers pop after hard braking or when i back up in reverse and stop, but they are very loud after hard braking.
