I dont like it...at all. He shaved ALL the body lines, makes it look like shit. The color is alright, but a bit too out there for my tastes. Why even bother putting on the grill? Interior looks all fucked up. The rims suck. Taillights are horrible and look even worse with the chrome piece underneath. He says its the LOUDEST import hes ever heard...not a good thing IMO. LOL, just not my style. I also thought you could get under 16 secs. in the 1/4 mile with a 4AGE, but Im retarded when it comes to engines.

if he had not shaved all the "lines" off the car, i would look into it, but at the same time i need more money to fix up my rolla. and the interior has not been touched so i would take it to another level, and do my best to work with it.

shows just how well he spent his money and how well he thought it through.

he's an idiot and yes that motor is definately overrated, my 1.8 vvt-i does faster, alot faster and the 98 LE (non vvt-i) would hit a 16.3 all stock.

^^^ have you driven a silvertop car? have you ridden in one? have you raced against one?

also, the 20V's are both good track motors.... with the ITB's they've got great throttle response. With working VVT they make more power through the entire band than a 16V, and without working VVT they make more peak power than with VVT.... on top of all this, the lowerend of the silvertop is the same as the 16V smallport, so the bottom end is rebuildable & you can make boost work on them.

on top of all of that, if you get rid of the stock ecu & pesky AFM you can make another 15+hp to the wheels in them. I doubt a slightly modified VVTI 98+ corolla could keep up with equal drivers against that ae102. the ae102 is lighter (chasis is based off the ae92), and that motor will make a little more power, and will have a higher rev limit. I've had VVTI corolla owners ride in my ae92 with just a smallport 16V (running on a modified 4afe ecu.... so the ecu is limiting the motor a little bit) and they've believed my ae92 is much quicker than their cars.....

I know this post is a hypocritical one for me..... BUT if i could get a car with a running 20V in it (be it black or silvertop) for cheap, i would.... it wouldn't be a daily driver (and i would make sure i had other cars in case something goes wrong), but it would be a good platform to work with. I wouldn't do this swap in any of my cars, i would go gze (again) or gze block with a t25 (hopefully in the ae86 i'll be getting soon)... but like i said, starting with something like that you're already ahead....

true, but it also depends on how much you are just willing to spend.

that car is worth $2k..... wouldn't say it's worth much more though (to me, at least... because i can do the work that's been done to it easily & cheaply enough).

    also, there is a mk1 mr2 with a silvertop 4agte running in the 12's

Well truthfully I've never driven in one but i did see one run at Ave. P in Newark against a b16 civic sedan and it got spanked horribly..too bad i didn't know exatly what ecu he was using. If I ever see the guy again i will get all his info. But you would know more than me here because you have experience with these motors.
