    The Real Bottled Water Story

When I read these, by the time I was done, I was laughing to the point of tears.

This are QUOTES off the back of Fiji Water 1.0 Liter bottles...and somebody please explain why they pay $1-$2 for them?

In Fiji, rainfall filters through volcanic rock over hundreds of years, adding vital minerals that give FIJI Water its unique and refreshing taste. The water collects in an ancient artesian aquifer deep within the earth where it is protected from external elements. It's the way nature intended water to be. Untouched.

    #2

The purest water comes from the purest clouds. Our rainfall is purified by trade winds as it travels thousands of miles across the Pacific Ocean to the islands of Fiji. A continent away from acid rain and other pollutants, FIJI Water is preserved and protected by one of the last virgin exosystems on Earth.

    #3

Why travel to the South Pacific islands of Fiji for a drink of water? FIJI Water's aquifer is in a virgin exosystem at the edge of a primitive rainforest, thousands of miles from the nearest industrialized continent. This natural artesian aquifer protects the water until it is bottled at the source and shipped to you.

So let me run down what I believe this water is.
First off, the rain is filtered by tradewinds across the ocean...until it falls onto the island...across some volcanic rock...and into this underground chamber...then the dip the bottles into that water and call it pure.
...Wish I was the one who came up with that idea.

yeah thats crazy stuff. It's probably just purified tapwater. Besides, all the chemicals from the plastic bottles probably leech into the water anyways.

Actually it has to state on there what the source is...

For the record. No matter what the marketing material tells you there is a certain process in which water pulled from any source (aquifer or not) has to go through before it can be sold to the general public. That is an FDA REQUIREMENT.

For instance Springtim Natural Artesian Water (while it isnt available in Colorado it is in many places east of the Mississippi River). It is pumped out of the underground Aquifer (which is actually an Artesian well in some places, however in order to supply the demands on the aquifer wells must be dug to support the minimal supply an actual artesian well can provide). Once the water is pumped out of the ground it is stored in giant storage tanks, from the storage tanks it is run through charcoal and sand filtering systems. Once this has been done, the water, now stripped of debris is pumped into an ozonation tank where it is ozonated to strip out any bacteria, etc... then is pushed using nitrogen through micron filters before it is sent into the filler where it makes it into a bottle. Once filled it is exposed to the air for a fraction of a second until the capper caps it and then it is sent down the line and packaged into cases... pretty much how it works.

I worked in a water bottling plant when I was 17, 18, 19. My dad is the operations manager for the plant. There's a few details here and there to different operations i obviously left out but the above description is the jist of it. Most bottling facilities follow pretty much the same process. Except some don't use ozonation to kill off stuff, they use some other methods.

If you have Fiji and Dasani you can tell a difference between "purified volcano water" and "filtered tap water"...its actually good stuff if you can...steal it.

i know there is a difference between water such as Dasani,Evian,Aquafina,Orzarka, and Fiji . overall i'd take the Fiji. even though its expensive (more so at the Four Seasons, 5 bucks per bottle, at the room, but free at the bar and restraunt) the taste is has is more crisper and imo i am very picky at the water i drink, i dunno why but i just am. though if i am very thirsty i could care less what it is as long as i can drink it.

my mom buys it in cases of 24 (usually 2 or 3) but she won't tell me how much she paid.Which still makes me wonder where she get it from. it arrives at our doorstep about twice a month via UPS.

so far the best tap water i have ever had was from Bryan, TX. it has a very soft taste. and this was right out of the well at my aunts old house. Our house has a double filtration system and it works very well and tastes good but the filters are expensive as all hell though!

Yeah, the water here in Fort Myers would be tasty if there weren't lil things swimmin in it.

Picky water drinker too...I'd rather be thirsty then drink Dasani/aquafina.

I saw a taste test about these waters.....they had 6 samples, 5 bottled, 1 tap, and 75% of the subjects preferred the tap water over the bottled stuff.

You think bottled water purification is cool? Check this out. :)

http://www.h2ultra.com I did a little poking around online and apparantly there are some benefits to ion-charged water. :) Interesting anyway. I was talking to a business collegue of mine who has a degree in Chemistry or Molcular Biology or something, and he explained how the process works. Its pretty neat.

that water runs close to 6 bucks a bottle at the ( Four Seasons) and cheaper in other areas i have never tasted it before but my cousin says its very peculair.he buys this in cases of 2 or 4 sometimes.

1st for all coke has a lot crap in it,
2nd it eats up your system (acidic levels)
3rd there is no good thing coming out of coke
4th water is natural even though it has contaminints. its healthier overall.

A small 8 oz can of coke at Rose Medical Center (where I had my surgery back in '03) was almost $8.

    Bottled anything is a rip-off I believe.
Best thing I ever got was one of those faucet mounted filters.
