    Hey guys, my Name is Aaron, ive been lurking the forums here for quite some time. Finally got around to joining, after a few problems with the registration! Haha. Anyways, here are some pics of my 8th gen; constructive critisism never hurt.
    Winter is almost done here in Canada, and i have a room full of parts to install as soon as the weather allows me to!

    Hahaha, thanks. yeah, wouldn't have found you without trdforums! And thanks Mack, they're oem mr2 supercharged wheels. VW has the same style with a different center cap. I have coils and rims going on in a few weeks.

    D2's. Picked them up used for a good price locally. My plans for the car are to keep it as a daily, as its pretty low kms for a 98. Maybe a manual swap and a turbo down the road. Im throwing on some bbs reps with a bit of stretch, that suv height has been killing me. During the spring and summer there are weekly car meets, i plan on attending those frequently, so ill post pictures and whatnot.

    yeah im thinkin of doin the swap soon. I got into an accident when i first got the car. Didnt know you could swap front ends. But im thinkin about now. I have a gtec lip aswell.

    Hey no problem, im glad i could finally get posting. Hopefully it doesnt stop new members from joining. And of course. Ill try not to take anything too seriously. I see most people here have a good sense of humor.

    Well most of the members here have done the swap, so if you have any questions, feel free to post them up here. The gtec lip looks better on the 8.5 front end anyway.

    If im not mistaken, its just the bumper, new corners and headlights... and a wiring h3 to h6 conversion harness to splice hi/lo. Correct me if im wrong.

    correct me if im wrong anyone whos done the front....9005 and 9006 for the headlights...but for the headlights high you need a whole new wiring harness and wire them up independently because the old front end only has 1 bulb on each side.

    pretty sure its just corners, headlights and bumper...

    Or... you can take the hi and lo connectors from an 8.5 and splice onto your existing connection?

    You can use headlight splitters, it's one harness that separates into two. And **technically** you need new fenders as well. The tabs near the corner lights are different, there will be a small gap if you use 98-00 fenders. And you will also need the bumper logo and grille surround trim piece. And fog lights are always a good idea.

    This is the one i was told to use by a local 8th gen owner that has done the conversion. He didnt use the 8.5 fenders, i saw, didnt mind the gap really...

    Yes sir those are the ones. I would get those but I like the ability to turn on my lows and highs together simultaneously. And yea the gap is minimal.

    How do you have them wired up? I thought you could cut your drl cable and use this harness.

    I have my high beams independently wired to a standalone switch, wired to the battery. A little tacky but I actually got used to it, and I like being able to have all sets of lights on at once.

    You have HIDs with projectors? Is that why you prefer to have them on at the same time? Are drls mandatory in your area? So , When using this harness, what does it do as opposed to your setup?

    I have projectors yes but I only use them all at once on occasions that I am out in the boonies, there are a lot of dark farm roads out here lol

    If you want to do it the right way, you'll need this harness

    Otherwise, the high beam will shut off the HID, like it shuts off the low beam now. Mack wired his differently so that it wouldn't shut off the HIDs (or fogs).

    So that leaves the lows on when hitting the highs, with the oem stalk? I could get rid of that switch I have, except sometimes I use the highs by themselves too. Oh well.

    Yeah this would make it function like OEM properly. But you wouldn't be able to have the highs on with no other lights (for some reason lol)

    Yeah that's why I posted it to him lol. You're OK, yours works, and you don't need to spend money on this thing lol. But he should do it right the first time...... which really isn't the Corolla way, is it.

    The "right" way doesn't technically apply here, I knew there was a correct way but I wanted fully independent functionality lol
