    VBulletin Question

Maybe some of you can help me. I'm considering starting a message forum, and I'm trying to find out, if you purchase the VBull software, do you also have to have bandwidth to host it off of? Or is that included? Example, if I set it all up and get everything in order, do I then have to have a server to host it off of? Or is it all set to go as soon as I enter in the forum titles and things like that?

I cant answer your question outright, but I do know that this board and the other board were both slow......this board was switched over to vortex's servers, and now it doesnt have any speed issues.

Vvti.net is still slow, so if in fact you do use their bandwidth (which I dont think you do), you have to settle for a slower board.

Vortex is the man to talk to about this

You need a server to host it. You're buying the software alone. :)
When you register it you need to type in the domain that is using it so they can help prevent piracy or something like that.

I host mine through Netfirms.com servers which I pay them a monthly fee. (paid annually) You'll need to find a webhost that offers PHP and MySql support also.

I host a few boards... everything from vB to phpBB --- the trick to speed issues is to make sure you don't overbook your bandwidth and server resources. Unfortunately all of these companies that sell ' cheap space ' *ALL* overbook. You can't do that or you end up with what happens on vvti.net --- slow ass responses and overtaxed servers.

I'll host for ya, even though its not the cheapest on the web, i can guarantee reliability.

Could you PM me with a few prices? I'm looking at starting a message board for New England mini-truckers and import people who are interested in doing a multi-state car club. I don't know how busy it will be, but it's worth a shot since everyone's so spread out up there.
