    06 Subaru Impreza

Have you seen the new Impreza? The WRX non STi now has the same engine as the STi but has less HP its only 230HP and 235ft.lbs. but the Sedans are ugly now

I hope that Saab gets this too..., so I wont be stuck buying the WRX wagon, this will be my next car but still keeping my Rolla "RUSH" thats my rollas name;)
or maybe i'll get the 2006 Saab 9-2X 2.5 Turbo "if" it becomes available for areo.

yea I'm getting a 04'-05' wrx wagon or sedan either one on a black or Silver, prolly will do a BOV and an exhaust and that'll hold me for a while, as long as I'm over the 200 hp line I'm more than good for now hehehe

Along with the difference in displacement the STI also has the whole Variable Valve timing. The standard WRX doesn't have that. That's also why they can get that 300hp along with turbo injectors ETC....

Actually, it used to be 227 hp and 217 ft-lbs... and because of the extra displacement, there is more useable torque at lower RPM's... that 0.5 of displacement makes a big difference in daily drivability of the car...

The 2.5 is a sweet engine and easy to drive. the torque is rally good, at least I feel it in my Legacy GT. I don't minf the nise of the new WRX. I saw it at a dealership and it was not bad. Just needs a drop to make it look mean.

The insurance premium for an STi will p0wn you. It would have been twice as much for me for insurance, and I'm way over 25, with no points and perfect record. That is why the GTL was a better choice for me. Also the STi's are attention whores, and hard to keep little dirty stealing hands off them.

    The wagon is nice.

yea STI's here in the denver area you'll see like Civics man that is another reason I forgot to mention and yes insurance will own my ass for sure lol, in this wagon and on a sedan I already got a quote which is $220 I believe so it's not bad really.... I like the wagons cause you don't see them upgraded too much around here plus they'll expect a mom or something to be driving it but when I pull up IT'S ON! hehehe

haha I just called my insurance agent for shits and giggles and asked for a quote on a 04' STI and he just cracked the fuck up when it pulled up lol it's 520/MONTH!!! lol fuck that dude I choose life lol

It wont fall apart, its just a WRX with a different front end and somewhat different interior (looks better too, imo)... but the mechanicals are all WRX

It's as much a new wrx as the 01-02corolla is a new corolla compared to the 98-00.. just a face lift, everything else is the same.

Not true. Bigger different engine. Bigger brakes. Bigger wheels. Projector lights. They now have a luxury model. And a little more horsepower and torque, where teh corolla was just a different bumper/headlights and taillights.

It's still the same GDB chassis, sure it has a detuned EJ25 instead of a 20, everything else is just cosmetic. You can convert a 06front end into a 05 as well as brakes, and wheels. Now going from the 01 GC8 to a 02+ GDB, that's a new car.

Yes, but I think it is not a fair comparison to say that a 06' wrx is in the same type of upgrade as a 01-02 corolla was to the 98-01 corolla.

Yeah Teevee and laz are right. Its NOT just a makeup job. My friends and I have been waiting ever since the Subaru Tech paper leaked out about the WRX upgrading to the 2.5L engine. :) They also lowered the redline from 7 to 6.5 it looks like. :( Oh well I guess its a product of the new tuning.

As far as the look goes, its growing on me. I didn't like it at first, but I bet I will after I see it in person a few times. Plus WRX's imo were never meant to be pretty. They're just big ugly bulldogs that eat up the road. ;)

...and for all the wrx haters out ther that think they're nothing because the STi has 300hp/300tq, go drive one. the 230hp may not seem impressive, but with the awd drive, the turbo, and the oh-so-lovely momo steering wheel, it really is a total blast. :)

Oh yeah one more... NO BULL, my housemates 04 WRX sounds E-X-A-C-T-L-Y like the one on this website. :) All he did was punch a couple cats and install a straight through 3" exaust.

The point is its a little more than just a revision. Corollas have had 130hp since at least the 97 model (that I can remember), with similar guages. The only thing changing was the exterior and interior for the most part. Hardly any performance change, if very minor.

The new WRX is like going from the Corolla S to the XRS. New engine, disk brakes, more hp/torque, etc. I would hardly call the xrs a reveision. You wouldn't call the EVO a revision of the Lancer would you? Although the body is similer with some changes...

Corolla added VVT-i in 2000. The XRS is like a crappy attempt at an addition to the model lineup such as with the Sti or the MR.

The Evo IS a revision as well, the Only reason there were a 8 is because they wanted a "new" car to introduce to the North America market.
