How easily does your suspension compress?

I've been told that my car's suspension is too soft for a lowered vehicle. I also notice that when a passenger gets in the car, it noticibly drops the ride height on that side to the point where it makes it easy to bottom out. I know my front struts are blown, but I wouldn't think that would create the effect I'm having.

For those people with lowered cars, how easily does your suspension compress? Can you push on the fender and make the car go down?

when i had my car drop the suspension was pretty hard. it was so hard that my car was nickname the kidney killer. also being that your front shock are gone that could be a factor in why your suspension is soft. usally it should somewhat stiff but to much. how much of drop do you go. also did you change the shock or just add lowering springs

i have an almost full drop. i got only 1.5 inches of max travel front and back. if your struts are gone the ride will be soft and bouncy what kind of springs do you have and struts are they stock?

its very hard for me to compress my car and that with weight as well and if i try and sit on the fender i will probably bend it since my suspension is very hard.

replace your struts all around. also, do you know the spring rates on your lowering springs? just because they are lowering springs doesnt mean you got a much stiffer rate. what brand? i use ground control coilovers 8kg front and trd rear 6kg, both eibach. and koni shocks and struts. when i try to compress it by hand the tires move more than suspension.... but its a good combo so i get a good ride still

Suspension being soft has nothing to do with the ability to lower the car. Not sure why someone told you that or if that person understood the idea of lowering the car. There might be stiffer cars (torsional loading and stiffness) than the Corolla - but it shouldn't stop you from lowering it.

I agree with the OEM suspension being tuned to the soft side - some people like a smooth ride and floaty ride. As you upgrade your suspention with sport tuned springs - most will result with your car being lowered on springs with a much higher spring rate than OEM (stiffer). Coupled with struts that are valved for the reduced ride height and different spring rate - you should have no problem lowering your car.

I run TRD springs with KYB GR2 struts - drop is about an inch and the ride is actually better than OEM (doesn't dive or squat on hard braking or acceleration, doesn't bottom out when the trunk is full or the car filled with 4+ people).

Wouldn't it be easier to just ask everyone to post their spring rates?

No, I don't even know my spring rate.

I bought Tein S-techs from a guy on ebay. They say Tein on them and they're green, so I figured they were the real thing. The car sags considerably when more than 2 people get in. When I push on the fender it bounces back into place immediately, but I can definitely compress the suspension.

it has to be your struts then... that would cause your suspention to sag like that...

Its your struts man. I had B&G's and kYB's and mine didn't compress much when I pushed down on the car. It was nice and stiff without being a killer as a daily driver, although other people complained about it and an unexpected off-roading experience didnt go to well. LOL. Nate (Rolla02) on the otherhand had TOMS springs with blown stock struts. The suspension had so much travel and was so easy to compress it was scary.
