    Rivalry: Evo VS Sti

Considering the longass history of the rivalry between these two beasts, they've always been at each others throats.

Now the commonly asked question is (i just want to see yall's input ^^:(

Which car is better? Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR FQ320 or Subaru Impreza STI WRX Wr1? Why? (look at the SIZE of those NAMES)

My answer: Evo. i based my opinion from this video
    http://www.norcalevo.net/gallery/albums/album06/EVOvScoobyLow.mpeg
-contains footage of both cars in a timed session.
*its about 33 megs... so if u don't wanna wait that long.. then screw it*

Since my friend drives an 05 STI with proper mods like his, I say STI. I've never seen him get beat by any car that is in town. There are a couple of evo's here and they all lost to him. He is pushing atleast 300HP at the wheels.

I wouldve taken the evo8 anyday, especially if its in the stock blue color....then id take the leftover money from how much i wouldve saved from not buying an sti and continue to build on the stock performance....always always loved seeing an evo 8 comin down the other side of the street...

STI... i think my avatar gives away my opinion. I gotta admit though musibishi is giving the sti a run for it's money these past years.

u gotta give credit to the evo, out of a 2.0 liter engine, and its that close to power and speed to the sti and has factory 100,000 mile warranty, thats a good car....

edit: compared to the 2.5 liter engine from suburu that only pushes out like about 20 horses more

Evo has set many more track records over the WRX, but Subaru is definately more reliable.

subaru, like they said this car was built to take a beating

car and driver tested an '05 evo and 05 sti, they said the evo was a little bit funner to drive, which i believe, but in the long run STI is best

STi, but I may be biased since I own a Legacy GT now. The EVO just screams cheap to me. I n reality I don;t think I want the attention that both of those cars get.

Depends on what you are after - straight line speed, road course, around town, Auto-x, rally, etc.

Evo got much faster steering and less understeer than the STi - engine is more "peaky" than the Sti (no replacement for displacement), STi pulls harder throughout the power band. I believe the torque split in Evo is 100% front and 0% rear to 50/50 - the STi is 35% front to 65% rear to 50/50. That makes the Evo easier to drive for beginners (pushes first then the front will pull you through the turn) but not as effective as the STi in unknown road conditions.

Video looks like it was on a tight course, perfectly suited to the Evo go cart steering - open it up a bit and the STi will spank the Evo. Many other tests have been done on longer tracks than favor a more power flexible car like the STi. In a drag race - the STi will own the Evo. Add more tight turns - and the Evo will do the spanking.

Overall for the money, build quality, and aftermarket support - I'd go for the STi.

The evo is a pentium processor on wheels, the reason its easier to drive is because it drives for you.
