we laid down a new set of telephone wires to my room that way i can have the modem and router in my room... before, i can download up to 160kbps... now, i can only download up to 45kbps... what happened im pissed!!!!! help please!!!! thanks in advance...

check your connection again, maybe having another break in the cable has weakened the signal. when i install dsl, i always put the modem on the cleanest line before any breaks or splits. this makes it easier to install the filters too. then i let my router do the distribution for me, it runs over the long cabling to my room, which is upstairs. i've tried connecting my modem in my room, but it was noticably slower, because of all the splits, for tivo, 2 phones etc.

oh... yeah... it kinda did pass through some splitters... but thats a huge difference though... so the best way to fix this is how? just hook up the line straight? no splitters?

the leas amout of line static the better your signal is going to be... line slpitters cause an awful lot of static... why not run network cabel insted of telephone wire... much better for the iternet...

we're gonna have to put the modem and all that stuff in the boiler room... cause thats the only placer where there's a conduit that goes to my room...

so i talked to my step dad... and were gonna run a devoted wire from the main telephone hub outside the house straight to my room... one telephone wire...
