Hawk pads, because I've used like 3 other brands now and so far the hawks are holding up the best and create the least ammount of dust ;)

I've run OEM, Hawk HPS pads, Akebono Ceramic, and EBC Green stuff - and I'll have to go with Hawk as the better set. Akebono ones didn't nearly dust as much as the Hawks - but EBC were almost all dust. Lifespan in moderate braking (DC metro traffic) - Hawks held up the best with little fade. EBC also had a very high friction material - but were completely worn after about 10K. OEMs held up for about 25K for me - Hawks were atleast 50% better lifewise than OEM. Akebonos probably would last the longest - but started to wear very unevenly on my car, even more so than the OEM pads.

For the money - hard to beat OEM (quiet, rotor friendly, perfect fitment). But for an upgraded pad with more bite and greater fade resistance - Hawk pads are hard to beat.

Note: I ran them all on the same setup - OEM calipers with OEM Brembo blanks (plain vented rotor).

    i prefer OEM.

as for the amount of miles between pad changes, that has everything to do with how YOU drive, not the lifespan of the pads.

Not really :) My first set of oem pads lasted me 30k miles. Then your right because I purchased another set of oems and drove like a mad man and they only lasted me 15k. But Then I tossed on a pair of Ceramic pads from some company that I can't remember the name of and they didn't even last 5k miles and destroyed my rotors because they worse so fast. Anyways I think its defiantly a factor of both.

I switch between Hawk HPS and Hawk HP+ depending on what kind of driving i'd be doing. I ate up a set of HP+ in about 6-9mths for street use.

    i have used
OEM work very well jaut the dust is a bit of a problem

Wagner Thermoquiet Ceramic, the best so far for the cost have lasted me 21K miles and are not even half way though

Bosch, okay but work best in wet weather, hard to find

Brembo very expensive and could be better for the cost.

bendix are the worst ones ever.

Toyota OEM. I put 48k miles on my original factory pads.
Check with vortex too, we both agree.
But yeah, driving habits will have a positive or negative effect on your pad life.

i can go though 4 sets of pads in one year if you can believe that! and the accord will go though about 3 and two for the volvo.
