    Emergency!!!

    Whats up guys. I know i havnt posted on here too much since i got my elantra, but i know theres some knowledgable people on this forum and im in need of serious help... Im going to try to make this loonnnnnnggg story as short and informative as possible. I am seriously having MAJOR issues. Ok, so me and my buddy set aside to do a project, which was installing 2 15" blue neon tubes w/strobes at the end of them into my headliner. we ran all the wire fine like so;

    neon -> switch -> amp -> fuse -> battery.

    that was the positive connections of course... HOWEVER

    I am running 8 gauge power wire from my battery to my amp, with a 35 amp fuse. We burnt through about 6 35amp fuses and when we decided to put a bigger fuse thing in, it burnt out a 40 amp fuse, and then when we put in the 80 amp fuse, it stayed on for a bit, to the point where we could turn it on and off a couple of times which was cool, until it burnt that fuse. The box says that they run off of 12 v, but it seems like its drawing SOOOOO much power. i dont know what the problem is at this point, because i thought 80 amps was alot, but aparently not for this situation. me and my buddy decided to run a seperate 8 gauge wire from the battery strictly to power the lights. will that help? could it be that 8 gauge is too small for my amp as well as the neon/strobes? i need some serious help guys! sorry for the long post, but im really desperate at this point...

    what!!! you're using 8 gauge to run neons? common, I have neons in my car including underbody neons and I don't use that gauge wire. here's what you need to do.

    neon ---> switch ----> battery

    please tell me you are not getting power from your amplifier. With neons, you have to wire them separate and directly to the battery or else it will blow your amp fuse. If you get a bigger fuse than recommended for the gauge wire, you will end up burning your amp or worse frying your wire. neon will drain alot of curent so if your fuse is not capable of delivering that much current, you will pop that fuse everytime.

    Wire the neons separate and directly to the battery. problem solve.

    wow are you serious? that easy? what size wire should i run from the batter just for the neons? i dont mean to question you, but how sure are you that it will work by running a seperate line from the battery? My neon/strobes seem to draw ALOT of power

    um if i was you which im glad im not i wouldnt even suggest you touch anything electrical take it to a pro and pay for them to do it nevr hook power up to a existing power line all seperate. If you blow a fuse after that you have something obivously wired wrong later and good luck

    where t in norther va are you at there hookedup
