Do you guys have any knowledge or input for this particular website? I applied just for kicks. A couple days later I get an email:

Congratulations! You have been chosen for the Pimp Your Ride Sponsorship! Before we go into the details on your exciting new sponsorship we want to thank you and our sponsors for making this opportunity possible.
Without Dunlop, B&G Suspension, Tsunami, Blaupunkt USA, Optimal
Graphics Inc., Gila Window Tint and our other exclusive sponsors, this would
not be possible. If you are not familiar with these companies we suggest
that you visit their websites and learn more about the products you
will receive. Also, because you only filled out our fast app, our sponsors
have requested that you answer some additional questions about you and
your future car plans. For your convenience, I have set up a web page
for you. Please go here (<--link) and answer
the questions to the best of your ability. Please keep in mind; we have
the right to refuse your application for any reason. To ensure success,
please answer the questions appropriately, clearly and truthfully.
Please submit your answers as soon as possible. Once submitted, we will
contact you via email or phone within 24 hours.

In the meantime, please gather any photos of your vehicle as we may
require those at some point during the sponsorship period for before/after
    press releases.

    Sincerely,

    Ragen St. Peter
    'Pimp Your Ride' Campaign Manager
    East Coast Division

So I click the link to add more info...further down I see this:

Credit Card Information Agreement - Terms & Conditions (Only if you are accepted for a full sponsorship worth $500 or greater will you be charged the $89 account set-up fee for your sponsor pack, agreement and parts delivery.)

Your card WILL NOT BE CHARGED unless you are awarded a Sponsorship Contract valued at $500 or more.

The $89 fee covers your account set-up for your sponsor pack, agreement and parts delivery. This is a one-time charge only.

When you click on submit, we AUTHORIZE_ONLY your card and DO NOT PLACE A CHARGE. Some credit card companies may show a hold for $89. Please be sure to read our terms and conditions.

If accepted you will receive your sponsorship agreement, sponsor pack and free products within 5-7 days via email. Plus, you will get immediate access to your account manager where you can upload pictures and obtain additional sponsorships for your car.

We are a sponsorship placement agency working directly with many major automotive companies. We are not affiliated with the Pimp My Ride show. Many of our sponsored members have been featured in magazines, television commercials and car shows. We are the Official Sponsorship Agency of the FormulaD Drifting Tour. We also work directly with Interscope Records supplying products for Eminem and 50 Cent's show vehicles.

So what do you think...should I do it?

Just because I'm skeptical and pessimistic it could be a scam.

I know for a fact it isnt a scam. At least three people in my car club (CCC) have done it...they all got the same exact sponsors though ;)

i used to have that until i fucked up my engine the second time. i had my shit but them i got rid of everything after that and even though i still have the sponsorship i don't use it i have not used it since march ish and i have others and everything but i just don't use though i will use it again once the car gets runnig. Plus i had various sponsors but it was just too much shit on my car and more than the alternator and battrery could handle even with two capacitors. but they are worth it if you go by what they say.

A serious sponsor won't need your credit card number or an 89$ *setup* charge, if they want to sponsor you, trust me, they'll let you know directly...

This almost sounds like a thing where you pay to get access to a site and get parts at a discounted price...
