Yes, his lyrics are sometimes superficial, yes his topics are not always deep and inspiring, but the MUSIC. Its the MUSIC, the instruments, the blending of sound he produces (working with jon brion might i add), the old soul songs he samples, the original musical scores he creates (no its not all samples) and a select few of his lyrical displays work together to create an altogether very Worth it musical experience. Kanye West, John Legend... GOOD MUSIC. This cd, a sophomore Classic.

ok, i admit, green day is good stuff. its officially made my 'rock music' i listen. albeit very heavy on guitar, you can discern good musical quality quite often, good stuff. boulevard of broken dreams... good stuff.

as someone who fucks with music production, his production is a+. and its not an easy thing to achieve

who doesn't make music, i know i did in high school, you were a loser if you couldn't freestyle or make a beat! those days were funny, we made lots of trash, i still have some of my beats! for real though,
he's definitely not a mediocre rapper, his confident delivery, tone, and rhyme scheme is ages ahead of most "rappers". hes a musician.

i had his CD for the last nearly 2 wks..

yea, i didn't get the illegal copy b/c i wanted to support the album. pharrell is amazing also. between him, kanye, and timbaland, they really make some different sounds. i think timbaland has since faded out (his beats are not as acclaimed anymore, maybe oversaturation?), a lot, but neptunes and kanye are definitely at the top. they both have very different, very distinct sounds. i like them both.

What an idiot. It just goes to show you that talent and class do not always coincide...

Kanye accepted a job (probably for money) to announce something. He did not do his job. Period. He is a celebrity, if he wants a stage to voice his opinion, he can get one easily, without being unprofessional like that. If he feels he needs to voice an opinion then he needs to do it on his own time, not at another time when he's not holding up his end of the bargain.

Really? Why the heck is he still invitied anywhere? He'd bette watch it, or like Whitney Houston, they'll just stop inviting him.

except that he's invited everywhere, all the time, to every event, because he's actually not what you depict him to be.

yeah... if u like timbaland , there is a compilation series you should check out called "Euro Club Hits" --

it's pretty clear that dance music is coming back around the world -- just check the recent big American hip-hop and R&B hits which are clear rip-offs of the european dance style.....

i like euro club mixes... old thread but, i think kanye is overrated.
