    Bad day with the car.

I got into an accident today coming back home from school. Some grandma decides to brake check me (big time) in her astro van and I rear ended her. Well her van is about 3 times the size of my car so obvously my car took all the damage and her van left without a scratch to it or dent. "I didn't even feel it until I heard the sound" - the grandma. WTF?! Thanks for ruining my day. Right when then cop pull up and we all had pulled off to another road to allow traffic through almost 5 cars did the same thing and the cop even said that it wasn't really anybody's fault after seeing 3/5 of those close encounters like the accident I had. My number was just up I guess today.

Anyways here's a short list of visible damages to the car at first glance:
    -both side fender
    -front bumper
    -hood
    -radiator
-tranny (leaked all over the place)
    -headlights
    -front grill
-front door hinges (not the door itself) both sides
    -battery clamp

Anyways I was wondering if I could get a carbon fiber hood since this would be perfect time since I'm going to have to replace it anyway and I pay the difference. Otherwise I'll just get all OEM parts that needs to be fixed. The insurance agent said that they were going to pay for it as long as we took it into one of their approved repair shops, which I did.

I think insurance does require OEM parts unless u had an aftermarket hood in there.

eh I'm sure u could get it through with the shop since it's the same price u know plus u don't have to paint it so that will eventually run u cheaper

That sucks. Least mines getting fixed, but in the meantime it's going to suck trying to find rides to work and school until it gets fixed. Which depends on when the parts will be coming in should be about 2-3 weeks.

I don't have any pics of this...didn't have mine camera with me at the time. I'll try to get some if I could, but I can't make any promises. Right now the car is at one of the insurance company repair shops. So I can't even see the car and I work all weekend so I probably won't get to see the car for a while.

I'll ask the shop about having a carbon fiber hood put on that's OEM fit. Do you guys know any places that sell cf hoods for 2005 corolla's? I need to know soon so I can try to convience them and have it covered under insurance.

From the damage that I could see it'll probably be in the shop for about 2-3 weeks. That's inluding ordering all the parts and stuff. The insurance company said that they would pay for a rental for max of $30/day and max of $900 total.

not to be rude (i have been in the same position..... i got in 2 rearend accidents about 6 years ago) but if you rearend someone then it's your fault.... not theirs.... you were following too closely. If i got rearended (regardless of how i hit my brakes) i would expect the person behind me to take responsibility.

sorry to hear about the accident though

It's no big deal, I'm not really upset about the car being in an accident or anything. Just that I don't have transportation to school and work.

man that sucks about your car john. Me and my girl were talking about everyone's cars getting fucked up and we were thinking who would be next. Then I read your post and was like crap man I can't believe another person I know got their car messed up. I'm telling you we got some local curse with cars here with my friends. Glad your ok man and that would be cool if you got a cf hood. Did your front bumper get damaged also? If so get a body kit too.

I'm tempted to get a body kit too, but that's a little out of my league right now. I want to do a full body kit if I do.
