Should I get a 1993 Supra Twin Turbo?

Okay, I'm comming into a little bit of money 5k - 10k cash in the next couple of weeks and armed with this knowledge I starting looking at Supra's. I have found a few 1993 Twin Turbo Supras with 40 - 60k on them for around $18,000 US. Do you guys think I should sell my Corolla and get a Supra? Or should I keep the Corolla and get a Supra also? Or do you think I should just say the hell with it and throw the $5k into the Corolla in the form of a BodyKit/PaintJob/Turbo Kit? I keep changing my mind every second so I figured I would put it to the forum to help me make a decision. The Supra is a dream car. Its like the Toyota lovers Ferrari so I don't know if I should pass up an opertunity to the own one. But on the flip side the gas milage would suck ass and the insurance would probably be a bit on the high side. But go ahead and give me the skinny :) All I know is that my Corolla no matter how much money I throw at it will never have 700whp and with a Supra that is fairly easy to do with a few thousand dollars.

If you have a shot at a Supra, and you feel that you can be responsible with it (ie, not kill yourself), and you feel that you can afford to keep it, then go for it. But keep the Corolla as a backup and running around car. I don't know where you're from, but if you have winter or anything then the Corolla will be good for that so you can baby the Supra.

Just be careful with them, it's a lot of power.

*edit* Shifty, it looks like your name in your sig pic says "Shitty". Just thought I'd let you know.

Get the Supra if you can keep the Corolla as a daily driver, shitty weather driver, winer driver (if you have winter wherever you are), and make sure you can afford insurance, repairs and maintenance on the Supra...

Or you can sink the money into an Roth IRA - depending on tax rate and expected return - you could have enough to buy several Supras.

But if you are cash flush - I'd keep the Rolla as a daily driver and use it to fetch parts for your Supra.

This is some good input, I'm just waiting on my money now and then I'm going to go surfing the old AutoTrader for Supra's. I found a few around $18k that I want to look at. A few scratches and fairly high miles but I don't care if the thing runs good.

If you get a Turbo version, please make sure all the maintenance was done and on time, don' buy it i the owner doesn't have receipts and records of all the maintenance... if they have all their records and receipts and the car checks out, then high mileage shouldn't be much of a problem if you keep up the maintenance and don't abuse the livign daylights out of it :) So, to make a long answer short, BUY IT!

Or you could use some of the money to help disadvantaged children. Maybe donate it to the local Boy's & Girls Club? That would be a great way to invest some loose income. :p

Best advice I've heard so far. Serioulsy man. I'm sure you want it bad. Heck I would too. But set it up and you'll have enough money for bigger, better cars later in life. :)

If you get the Supra, first learn to properly drive it. Not only is it RWD, but it's high powered as well. Make sure you atleast have some good tires in the back. And be careful when you're out in the rain. Just don't push it until you're comfortable with it.

Well I've still got almost a month before I get my money. Once I have it in hand then I'm going to start hitting up some local sellers to see if I can find the Supra that is right for me. I've also been considering buying a NA supra and turboing it since as far as I know it has the same motor in it as the turbo version in which case I can get a nice turbo setup that will put it over 500whp for cheaper then buying the twin turbo supra as is. Anyone jump in here and correct me if I'm wrong :)

Yea buying a N/A supra and then turboing it is better than buying a TT. You should be able to find a mint N/A better than you would find a mint TT.

I say buy a N/A Supra and just keep it stock, still a beautiful car with decent power... cheaper to run, cheaper on insurance, less chance of something breaking on the engine, less chance of you getting into trouble with the car...
