    1zz intake manifold

Ei turbo guys, has anybody swapped the plastic intake manifold for the metal intake manifold of the 1zz older version? The plastic manifold seems to be the weak link for high boost. And by the way does anybody know the diameter of the metal intake manifold?

the runners on the metal are about 1.1/4 inch on diameter. the plastic does not absorb as much heat as the metal but the metal in tuned for easier air flow. The plastic intake is pretty much a single plenum design although i hvae never seen the inside of the intake.

wait Vamp has a plastic intake from a celica on his car ask him he should know.

The plastic will hold up to boost, as many Celica GT owners that have a turbo have had no issues. I believe the diameter is 65mm from what I recall. I have a DIY for the swap on my site.

I asked Vortex this same question the other night and he said that NO it would not work to switch the 2 out... but the plastic one is just as good...

It looks better in metal but I think that the plastic one has a bigger inside diameter, meaning more air entering the intake.
