    Well, new tires are on

Got rid of the FR680's .. recycled them so nobody else can get hurt trying to use them

Now I have some Yokohama Avid H4S tires. My first impression is these things are somewhat heavy compared to the old ones. Car has noticably less acceleration. Having said that, on to the traction.

with the fr680's I could break them loose from the pavement in 1st gear by flooring the car. these tires I tried the same trick and they didn't even squeal. I couldn't break their grip at all. We'll see how they perform with time.

dang you got a bargain. i paid 85 for each tire plus the cost of mounting which came out to about 115 for each tire. for the BFG's.

I currently have stocks. i no longer have the rims. Plus i have to buy another set because the last set of stocks went out.

I bought 4 new yokohama avid h4s' on my 94 Corolla and its performance on wet and dry traction kicks ass. I paid 55 each and mount and balance them myself...because I go to ATS for auto tech.

I've run the Yoko H4S tires in a 14" size for some time now - got rid of the 16" wheels, roads are terrible where I commute through the week. Just a high bigger than OEM Goodyear POS that I had on there before (185/65R14 to a 195/60R14).

Mileage dropped a bit because bigger (wider) and grippier tire - but the traction in most weather is pretty decent for the price.

Initally the tire runs a little weird - seems heavy and soft regarless of how much or how little air you put in. But after a few thousand miles - the tire will really start to settle in. I've even bumped up the fuel mileage by plumping up the tires up to 45-50PSI (mostly highway - dont worry, tire won't blow up on you). Ride is still smooth and soft, even on with a slight suspension drop (TRD springs).

I'm glad to hear that you dumped the Firestone FR680 - I've had a set on my Camry that lasted about 500 miles (after I being involved in an accident that was attributed to loss of traction). Tire had zero grip in colder weather and wet conditions, dry wasn't much better.
