I knew it was a hoax because if mars was as big as the moon there would be massive panic and hesteria :)

....and besides that, you have to kno that it takes bout 6 months to reach mars and only a few days for the moon.....earth is around 7,926 miles in diameter....the moon is 1/4 of that....mars is a little over half of that of the earths at like 4,200, i dont remember exactly....so its just not probable....mars would definately have to be much closer to see and if at any point it was close enough to become as visibly large as the moon, im sure there would be some pretty bad gravitational forces....i mean consider the moon only has 0.07G's and mars has 0.38G's and the moon has enough gravitational pull to effect tides so i wouldnt wanna even imagine what mars could do...i love astronomy so i was really hoping that this wasnt a hoax but its just too good to be true...

Yeah I remember in '03 you could see mars low in the horizon up here. It looked like a bright star.

That's the only thing I miss about New Hampshire...the stars. On a clear night I coule see the moons of Jupiter with a basic telescope.

But overall....it just doesn't seem probable when you really think about it. I mean, look at it in a practical sense...if the MOON moves a couple of feet in any direction, the results on the ocean tides are catastrophic, and now they bring up the idea of a planet moving thousands (millions even?) of miles towards the Earth? If that were to actually happen, does anyone even think we would be alive to see it? :superconf

^^^ agreed. it would end up one of those Day After Tomorrow type of situations. mass hysteria, death everywhere. survivors would be minimal, at best.

...but i'm sure the roaches and rats would appreciate the view.
