When you said poileshed do you mean you sanded the paint off? If so you should have clearcoated it.

You sanded it to bare metal and just polished it up? That equals NO rust protection.

Even polishing metal won't protect it from rust, you should really put a gloss clearcoat on it after polishing...

do you have any pics of what it looked like post-polished lip? I was thinking about painting the steelies until i have enough for a decent set of rims and i'm kinda curious to see what polishing the lip looks like.

Maybe try to get one that has a tough finish, like commercial grade, since wheels sually do take quite a bit of abuse...

    sorry i dont have pics.

    but.....

    - get a can of AirCraft paint stripper at wal-mart or other places.
    - cover up the area you dont wanna strip the paint.
    - wear gloves, when this stuff gets on your skin, it will burn like hell.
    - carefully spray the AirCraft stuff on the side of the steelies.
    - give it a minute or two, you'll hear snap, crackle, and pop.
    - the original paint comes right off, might wanna use something to scatch the paint off.

    - sand it down using, 200, 320, 400, 1000 grits of sandpaper. you might wanna use some better sand paper, but thats what i use and it work ok.

    - Dry sand it down, then Wet sand it. repeat with other grits.
    - then finally, get some NeverDull metal polish, and polish it up.
    - make sure to buffer really hard to get the shine out.

    happy polishin :)

you can buy a cheap digital camera that works for like a week. anyways, dont worry about it, its a steelie. You can get another one from a junkyard for cheap.
