    Webster's Worthy

Alright, basically I feel that there needs to be a Webster's worthy definition of a Ricer. The term is too general and too open for opinion. So we need to come up with a more concrete definition for it. Personally, I think a ricer is anyone who puts far more show than go into the car, graphics are used on the car and/or there is a color scheme boardering flambouyancy, neons are used either in or outside the car, flashers (ie: any blinking lights that serve no purpose), and huge, un-needed wings. If the person does not match the definition on more than 3/4 of the criteria, they are not an official ricer...but they are well on their way. HOWEVER...if the person is doing this in pursuit of making their car show worthy, they will be spared from the term....you can't judge show cars on the same level as someone doing it for their own gratification. Gimmie what you think guys so we can complile the info and make it official.

    RiceCop said it best:

    1. ricer link send redefine 514 up, 51 down

(Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to:(

    - Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
    - Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
    - Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
    - Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
    - Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
    - Clear tail lights and corner signals
    - A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
    - Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.

The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.

Actually the term in-and-of-itself is kinda racist... If you think about where it's origin's truly come from. Most of the community has tried to sugar coat it and apply it to everyone, but ' Rice ' originally referred to foreign made (specifically Asian area) cars when comparing them to american cars... Ever hear the term ' rice-burner ' ? The term just kinda migrated into the modification community after that referring to some of the ridiculous modifications being made to cars (mainly non-performance) by the once again american car lovin folks. ' hey ricer, that thing will never keep up with my v8 ' --- soo... while most ' tuners ' who actually make true horsepower gaining mods are rarely referred to as ' ricers ' anyone who drives a car not american or european still technically falls into this group...

i'll edit this to make more sense tomorrow if it seems wrong... im pretty buzzed right now.

I can't agree with the all show and no go, thats just a show car. :) It should be more the person that makes an 'imitator car', one intended to mimic a fast car. Like those unsects that do that to protect themsleves, but really their just posing. :)

    That's different...

    Ok, let me clarify here.

Making your car a show car and putting TRUE & SERIOUS work into making the car LOOK CLEAN is not making your car look fast.

Placing stickers on your car for equipment you don't even have under the hood, putting on an unreasonably loud exhaust thinking it makes your car faster and actually having the balls to rev on cars that you KNOW are faster than you at lights, etc... etc...

    ^ That's where i'm goin with that.

I have mad respect for anyone who puts true dedication into a car in either looks, power or both... You could have the SLOWEST car on the planet, but if its clean looking in the body department... you'll get all the compliments in the world from me.
