So I was in an accident this weekend...

Like the topic says, I was in an accident yesterday (Saturday) afternoon, in my gf's car, she was driving. We we're waiting at a light to turn left, the light turned yellow and a car had stopped to let us pass, so she started making the turn but didn't see the motorcycle coming toward us :( So, long story short, motorcycle hit the car, the two passengers kinda flew in the air a bit, 2 ambulances, 1 fire truck and 4 cop cars later, it was over. An officer called us afterwards to let us konw both passengers will be fine without any serious or life threatening injuries, which was a big relief to both of us. Now she is waiting to find out what's going to happen with her car, if it will be written off or not (99 Mazda Protege)... so that was my excitement this weekend!

Just talked to an officer, its looking like it might be a 50/50 at fault, since the light was yellow, and another car that was ahead of the motorcycle had time to stop, so the motorcycle shoudl have stopped instead of trying to beat the light, and my gf should have paid more attention I guess... and talking to a family friend that is an officer, he thinks the motorcyclist could be 100% at fault in this situation, but time will tell, have to wait for the insurance companies to duke it out I guess, heh

Glad everyone is alright, but it is stories like these that keep me off a motorcycle.

yeah, seriously. that shirt is a bit ridiculous though, motorcyclists should be extra careful when they're riding, and shouldn't rely on other drivers to take proper precautions, because that never happens!!

One day when you have a girlfriend, youll know..... :D :D j/k

Were you out in the middle of the intersection waiting to turn? I see too many people pull out and make their turn when the light turns yellow, when they could just stay where they are and wait for their green arrow (or for traffic to clear)

Even if the light was yellow, the bike still had the right of way.

Actually, like I said, I was talking to an officer, and if the light is yellow, the first person in the intersection has the right of way (here anyways), but who knows, I have a feeling they'll find her 100% at fault :|

Right, but anyone going straight through the light has right of way before anyone that needs to turn across/through the intersection.
