Ok so I figure I'd try to do a quick recap on what needs to be done to get the TRD supercharger to work in an 8th gen.

First of all. It is not hard at all. You can follow the factory Supercharger installation guide. Here

The few special differences are:

1). Supra radiator 1992. I used a non turbo but I think a turbo version will net you a thicker radiator. The non turbo version is already an upgrade. As the Stock 8th gen radiator core is only 5/8 thick and the NA supra radiator is 1 inch.

2). Radiator hose. I used a combination of a 9th gen corolla upper radiator hose and then used another hose I got from O'reily. The second hose I eyeballed to what angles I needed. I then joined the two hoses with a "Radiator hose repair kit" for about 3 bucks.

3). TRD Ecu wiring: The TRD ecu can get wired directly to the stock harness. Here's a quick wiring diagram of the TRD ECU. As far as wiring the 2 wire knock sensor. I simply tapped a hole next to the bellhousing side of the engine and installed a second knock sensor there. Not sure yet if this is actually working but will get to it eventually lol.

4). Hood clearance: There's no way around this. If you want a supercharger on your 8th gen corolla. You need either a scoop or run a big hole in your hood with a supercharger sticking out lol. I used a Mustang GT hood scoop. The supercharger sticks out about 1 inch higher than the hood Plus another half inch play for engine bounce from shifting.






NOTICE*** The 8th gen ECU with the TRD supercharger does ping a tiny bit under low RPM and heavy load. What I mean is if you are in a higher gear (low rpm) and try to accelerate, it will ping. Under normal acceleration it doesn't. For example if you start from 1-2-3-4-5. This is either due to too much timing advance from the 8th gen ecu or a lack of fuel under heavy load in higher gear.

The pinging goes away completely when I used 100 octane. So my recommendation. If you want to use the 8th gen ecu and retain your normal operation of cooling fans etc. Get a meth/water injection kit. They are about $300 and are easy to use and boost your octane level to 110 octane and cools the supercharger by at least 50 degrees.

This is LAME. They tested it on an engine with a TBI cleaner over throttle body setup. Those are never sealed and will leak any kind of pressure. Not saying I was expecting any amazing results. Just saying that they didn't test it the best way possible.

The pdfs with the connector view has some of them, but when i had the ECU installed with those only my monitors wouldn't set.

I guess I should get my lazy butt back into this project and finish wiring up the Celica ECU. I kinda left that alone cuz I lost so much power using that ecu with the supercharger

Right but those pdf's only have some of the connections. Thats how i had it hooked up before and there were a lot of unused wires. Remember my monitors weren't setting. So i can do those connections, but the rest of them on the EWD don't seem to match labels.

Right. Don't use the bottom portion of those pdf's. You're only using the pictures of the terminal ends. On the actual EWD, you can see in the center of the ECM where it says E1- E10. You match those with the pictures of the ECM terminals.

FOR EXAMPLE: If we're trying to hook up the "RSO" system. On the Corolla EWD it shows it's Connector "A" pin 15. If you look at the center of the ECM. It shows "A" = E4. Knowing that. You look at the ECM Terminal picture and look for the E4 connector pin 15. That's the RSO pin for the Corolla ECU.

Now do the same for the Celica ECU. "RSO" is connector "D" pin 18. Connector D = E5 on the Celica ECU terminal picture.

Knowing that. You'd connect Corolla side Connector E4 Pin 15 to Celica connector E5 Pin 18.

And yes, There will still be some extra components that you need to wire separately because the Corolla Ecu never had. Like The BATT and charging signal from the alternator. There are a few more.

No not confused, its the extra components im worried about.

I'm currently looking into the diagram again. First trying to figure out the fan situation. Then I'll figure the rest out. I know that a few of those circuits, you have to run new wires directly from the ecu to the components.

So irvin how did the smog and getting the car bar'd go ?

Nope never bar'd it. I never found a CARB sticker to do it so I'm just riding around without doing it.

BTW. My 30k engine is broken.... Yesterday I started the car and it was misfiring. Did a compression check and found Number 1 cylinder was at 110psi and the rest are at 180psi. Tor it apart today and found a cracked piston. Weird thing is that it doesn't seem like it was caused by the Supercharger. The top dome and top ring land are totally fine and clean. The part that is cracked is the second and third ring land. I wasn't boosting it at all during the prior drive so I'm puzzled.

Lol Like a Bitch more like it. I'm having the worse of luck with these Toyota motors. I'm loosing my confidence in these 1zz and 2zz motors.

The cracked piston looks like a factory defect. The piston looks too clean with no detonation marks, No warpaged. Nothing
