Go with a Viper system. Don't cheap out on the thing that's going to keep your car safe, but also be realistic... unless you live someplace that makes them necessary, remote start and alot of the other high end options aren't all that usefull.

I think here in colorado remote start is a god send... but yeah lots of other things are un nessacary... when I get mine i'm getting mini pizos on the interior and actuators for my powerwindows so I can open and close them in the summer with my remote... but yea viper is a DEI company along with Clifford, python and one other but I can't remember the name right now...

So which viper alarm goes for 300-380 bucks that's really really good and has a remote starter and that's a sensitive alarm too cause I'll be putting lots of parts in my car soon and I don't want them stolen and there's been 20 cars stolen here by my area within the last month so one of the reasons why the alarm idea came up to me today

    Viper = DEI.

the 791XV is the best system out in the DEI line - though anything in the Responder series is basically the same thing. go to DEI's site, and look at any of the brands that list something with a Responder feature.

yep, it is...and most stores(best buy, circuit city) won't touch it unless you buy it FROM them.

price out the install before you buy the alarm. trust me.

OH - if you have a manual(i can't remember), most shops won't install the remote start feature. it becomes a liability on them if they do it.

...not saying that NO ONE will, but most won't.

also, expect shops to tell you there's no warranty on install unless they sell you the unit as well as the install. if they can't verify that it was sold by an authorized dealer, they won't honor it. Tweeter is one of those companies, though their install price isn't ... TOO ... rediculous. it's still pretty high, though.

You already know this from when we talked about it last night D, but I'll post it for thread purposes. I've got the Python 660 on mine. Great alarm, you can turn the sensitivity up and down as you see fit. Mine is so sensitive if I lean against the side, it'll set it off.
A big thing you should look into is NPC.
Nuisance Protection Circuitry, will differentiate between someone trying to break into your car, and thunder. Or someone running into it, and the sound of a semi engine brake.
    Very convenient.
The nice thing about the Python's, is once you get past the basic $120 alarm system, you buy one brain with the alarm, and then if you want remote start...or remote windows, you just have to buy the module, as opposed to the entire system.

I've heard my alarm going off from a Safeway parking lot...while I'm inside, at the back of the store. :D

Clifford, but they are worth the price you pay. Viper or Avatar works well but personally i have had problems with them in the past so i stick with the clifford but i think i paid quite a bit for it.

Clifford, Viper, and Pyton are the exact same things, just different names and cosmetics. if you had problems with one it was an install issue or bad parts. the brand name makes no difference in quality of the parts involved.

They set off the front airbags on my car then i unlocked the doors. i have no idea how they wired the system but i had to take it to the dealer to get fixed. The company where i bought it from paid for the bill and the cost of everything. this was when i had the Viper for two weeks. the trunk would open by itself and (with no battery in the key fob) the doors would unlock and lock when driving unless you turned the car on and off with the doors closed.then it would stop.

the Avatar is on the accord for sure i know had ecu problems. i took it back and it got replaced with a clifford as well. that is my experience.

hell is just that I'm dropping some nice parts and shit in the car so I don't want people to break into the car and shit..... when I had my subwoofers they tried to take them 3 times but unsuccessfull thank God, and I just want one more now that I'm getting subwoofers, in-dash dvd/navigation and components speakers that I dk what they'll be yet..... I'll also have the CAI and my lights and shit so I don't want anyone to come near my car you know cause there's been a lot of cars stolen in my area so that's mainly why

I installed alarms for a while, and not ever did a brain come faulty. It was always someone tryign to install it themselves that fried the barin by short circuiting.

It is very but very hard if you know what you doing to install an alarm so that the airbags deploy. I would say it is almost next to impossible unless you wanted it to do that.

With that said, your alarm is only as good as your installation, but there are some that have more/better features than others.

On the hooptie I just bought a 39.99 joint from ebay and it has done it's job so far *knock on wood* and I installed it myself as well.

I like Scytek's products. They work great for me, good quality, and very inexpensive. Made in the USA too...

www.mypushcart.com (distributor, nice people out of Connecticut. I've bought 4 units from them so far)

It wasn't till after that happened i found out he was drunk.

They connected some stupid wire to the side airbag system. The guy got it confused supposedly. The alarm wires run though the driver side then though the center console. Don't ask me why it just does. The dealer put a new brain and re-wired the enitire thing altogether.

It was the old brain that set them off and everything else that srewed up the trunk relay was fine it was the brain that was screwed up.

i just found the bill of sale and i paid 435. The company gave me a half price discount, paid the dealer bill and gave me back my money from the frist set up. They paid for everything. This thing has numerous features on it.
