    Brake Calipers...

I have an 03 S that is Impulse Red. Its that...almost burgondy or maroon color. When I get my rims put on I'm going to paint my calipers, as is expected, but I'm affraid the bright red paint *which is the only brake caliper shade of red I've found* will be too bright for the color.

My room mate suggested perhaps mixing the red paint w/ black caliper paint until the color is close enough. Has anyone dared color matching? Or is there a color closer to the impulse red out on the market for calipers?

ive never seen a closer color but I don't see how color matching could hurt... the worst you could do is eather come out too dar or still too bright... it would have to be a mix and eather brush on or use an air painter gun to do it...

I've seen car paint used on engine heads and hold up just fine. Maybe you can have a body shop mask off and spray your calipers. As long as yu aren't doing any hard braking on a regualr basis, it should be fine.

You should be able to use a touch-up spay paint that matches your car, see the decal on the driver's door or chasis frame for paint code and get a can or 2 at AutoZone or Pep Boys.

The paint will hold, but you will need to prep the caliper with a wire brush attached to a drill to remove the 'scaled' rust or dirt from them (wear mask).

Then mask out the caliper with tape and plastic bags, prime, paint, and maybe a clear coat also.
