Its basically a CE with all the options of an S, without the cladding, seen a few around here already, and its not expensive, thats Canadian dollars they are quoting, since it is a Canada only model :)

How is the overpriced, seriously? If you convert it to USD, it comes to $15,162.53 USD thats not expensive considering all the options that come on it...

Neither does a Corolla S that cost more :p but its not overpriced, and its faster than most cars at that price range... so i dont see your argument there buddy...

So, are you meaning to tell me a Scion TC is not in this price category?

Just to compare against the Corolla's competition...

    2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8 S - 126hp
--- $14 900 USD | Missing the power moonroof that the Corolla has

    2005 Honda Civic LX - 115hp
--- $15 610 USD | Missing the power moonroof that the Corolla has

    2005 Dodge Neon SXT - 132hp
--- $15 675 USD | Missing the power moonroof that the Corolla has, and its $500 odd dollars more

I could continue, but that shows my point that it is alot of options for the price, and the car is well powered for its class and price...

The Scion tC isn't meant to compete against the Corolla... and the MSRP for a tC is $16 715, thats almost $1600 more... for that price you could buy the TRD supercharger and have more power than the tC... and if you don't find $1600 is more, then you wouldn't mind spending another $800 for the corolla XRS that retails at $17,555, and has 170hp and a 6 speed...

It's not meant to compete with it, I know. Reports of base MSRP is at $16,000 not $16,715. So, not $1600 more but $885. And you can't buy your supercharger with that. So, for $885 more, I get:

    More HP
    More TQ
    Side blinking Mirrors
    17in wheels
    Full Sunroof
Good cargo space with seats down
    Non-famliy looking coupe.

As for the XRS, it cost $1,555 dollars more for only 10 HP. and 30 ftbls less TQ. I'd be happy taking the $1500 and buy some engine mods to give me well beyond 10 more HP.

PS..Not hating on Corolla, because I have a 95 Rolla DX myself. But I also happen to drive a Scion TC too. To which I believe is a much more wise investment than an XRS if you are looking for aftermarket support and extra HP potential.

Just check on www.scion.com for the MSRP, everything else you said void...

Don't get me wrong, I love the tC and if I was spendinga round 17 grand for a car, i'd probably get the tC over the Corolla... but still doesn't change the fact that the Corolla and tC aren't meant to compete together, most shoppers will not cross shop them, and in its class, the Special Edition Corolla in canada is more powerful than most of its competitors and has the same or more features for the same price...

2006 Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price as of 06/01/2005, excluding the Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee (itemized separately), taxes, license, title and accessories or other optional equipment. Actual dealer price may vary.

We got our TC in 2005. The Base MSRP for a 5 speed TC is $16,200. Then you add in the Del, Proc, & Handling, brings it to $16,715.

But I started to list all the extra stuff in comaparison to when you started listing the other car's in the Corolla's target sights, and put beside them " Missing the power moonroof that the Corolla has"

On the site I only saw one price for $16 715 MSRP... so that's the price I used :) Anyways... enough of this... I think we can agree that the tC is a hell of a good price for what you get, and the Special Edition Corolla is a pretty good deal when compared to the vehicles it was designed to compete against.

gawd, it does look like a CE with a bumper thats yearning for the S lip...way too high or at least its giving me the illusion that its too high, needs to be lowered or something...
