    Oh no!...new car...

So guys, i kno ive been sayin i was gonna drop 7 grand on my corolla but since my dad thinks the car is just a money pit and is value-less in his eyes, he doesnt want to co-sign for that 7 grand loan if its going to the corolla....so im starting to look for another car....im not too crazy bout performance right now...i was thinkin about a corolla but in all honesty, if i cant have my corolla, then i want something else....not an integra and not a honda and something that not too many people fix up but at the same time, somewhat reliable....and in below $8000....and i was looking at some Hyundai Elantras 01-05....ive always loved the headlights cuz they make the car look really mean and plus they kinda remind me of r34 headlights...and so i thought that it could have some potential....i mean quite frankly, when i first got my corolla, i never thought it had potential to look good but i was immediately proven wrong when i started doing research on it....

So here's the Elantra im interested in....they're asking for $6900 and it has under 48k on it...the newer model elantras are worth just slightly less than similar year corollas..

the rear end is nothing great to look at but i think i can work with it...

    And as for potential...

they look good but its up to you. i'd just buy another rolla or even a used camry for that matter. at leas the color is black. auto tranny? don't think of messing around unless you decide to get a manual or upgrade the auto because my friend sophie has one her's is an 05' manual and that little sucker can pick up but her bro's auto sucks, even with the power button engaged. her's just has rims,a system, and CAI and full exhaust.

her bros is the same as well and it still don't run as it should

but hey i can't complain if ur parents are buying it.

well im not really worrying too much about how fast it is....its only got 130hp and yea this one im lookin at is an auto....ironically enough, i actually want an auto now....for all the years that ive had my rolla, i wanted a 5-speed, and now i finally have an opportunity to get a fresh one....but i just want something that i can make look nice and something that i can cruise around in worry free...i mean i was lookin at 2000+ Lincoln LS's too cuz i thought those looked pretty nice....but dont get me wrong, if i find a 5-speed with low miles on it, ill still take it...

No engine in it and my dad thinks its a "lemon car" or whatever so he doesnt want to do that, otherwise i would, (did i ever mention that the corolla has always been under my dad's name, lol)...

yea man, i really wanted to keep my rolla too....even tho it was pretty beat up, i loved my rolla....i had so much in store for the car too....heres what i was gonna do with the 7k if i was gonna put it towards my rolla...

i already have 1,500 saved up so basically $8500...

    -New used and rebuilt engine
    -rebuilt transmission
    -CAI
-replace door panels and reupholster to black
    -black racing seats
    -TRD belts
    -black rear seats
-all new system (new 6.5's and 5.25's and new head unit....no sub)
-a camera to put in the trunk keyhole
-in dash flip up screen connected only to the camera
    -gauge cluster w/ tach
-Momo metal floor grids ($80 but i LOVE THEM)
-get a nice steering wheel with a trd horn button
    -repaint all dash trim black
    -retint to %15
-fix rear passenger window (had problems with it)
    -Dropzone coilovers
    -KYB struts
-two new tires (for the ones on my rims)
-paint middle part of rims glossy black
-get a body kit (left this vague)
-96-97 red and white oem tail lights w/o center piece
    -HID H3 kit for projectors
    -short Evo style antenna
-maybe repaint the car oem gold color and black from the bottom of the window line up not to extend passed the front or rear windshield so basically the top half of my car painted black

I had already pre-budgeted all this out and i would have around $4-500 left over (since some of that stuff wouldnt cost anything)....with that, id probably go to the mall on a shopping spree so i could look fly in my equally revamped fly ride, haha...

I don't know man. I worked on one at work and they look to be cheaply made. The interior I'm not too interested about. The front end looks good. Other then that I don't really trust the car that well. I think it might be a downgrade from the corolla man. If you get a new car get something bit more highend.

ok, downgrading? i would beg to differ. Oh and turismodreamin, all i gotta say man, is just test drive the car. you either want it or you dont. simple as that. It doesnt sound like all the mods you had in mind would add up to 7g's. seems like a lot less.

The new Hyundai's are actually very decent cars, I would still get a Corolla over an Elantra, but I think i'd get an Elantra over a Civic to be honest (i've driven them all), it would definitely be towards the top of my list for a small car...

yea, i dont think its downgrading going from a toyota corolla to an elantra...my friend's mom has a maroon 01 elantra and it has 160k on it (she drives between office buildings)...she said she hasnt had any problems with it...hyundai seems to be more of a stereotype...its like u hear acura, honda, or toyota and everyone has one or knows of someone who does...but if i say suzuki forenza or something like that, sh*t no one knows what that is so let's give it some bad feedback without giving it a chance...my friends think the same way too...but im willing to give them a chance....its not everyday u see a slammed hyundai elantra with a body kit and 18"s rollin down the street, they're usually driven by older adults who just want to get groceries....whats the difference with a corolla cuz i always see people in the same 93-97 corolla as mine driving down the street full of groceries or kids...i dunno, but once again, for those of you that wanna assume that i am looking for a car based on its performance, then u probably didnt read my first post all the way...i just want something that i can make look real nice that no one else is gonna have around town...i just need a car that will make it for the next 2.5 years while i finish out a big part of my major...btw, i was also lookin into newer model hyundai sonata's...and guys, this isnt set into stone yet, im still shoppin around not only for hyundai's but other makes as well...and if u want to read it, here's one of three different reviews on autotrader on the elantra Hyundai Elantra

So your dad wouldnt care if you dropped thousands into an Elantra?

I guess its a good choice if you have to keep it in that price range.

nah, he actually just wants me to have a fresh start with a car above a 2000 model....they're pretty low cost cars too cuz at the Hyundai dealership they had a bunch of used 01-03's that had no more than 25,000 on all of them and the most expensive one was $12k...all the rest were between $9-12k..

id definetely rather have an 01-02 rather than an elantra

and theres MANY MANY other cars, besides (not to mention better)than that one that u can make look nice and still be unique
