    Engine Swap??

Is it possible to switch in a 2.4 from a Camry into the 05 Corolla?
Whole drivetrain or just engine, bolted to stock at?

Its possible if you have money, it will not be a direct bolt-in, I don't know how much work would be involved, DR TWEAK might know better... if you bought a 05 and wanted power, why didn't you just buy an XRS with the 1.8 VVTL-i making 170hp, with a 6 speed manual and rear disc brakes...

yeah we got a ton of room in teh 9th gen engine bay. the stock tranny i dont know. that might take a bit of innovative work. i'm not sure how they'd bolt on together.

Why a 2.4 from a camry? and why on a 05?? Are you getting a crashed one with no engine or something?

    Just curious

It might, but the XRS is still plenty fast... and it would probably be cheaper for him too...

If he's going for all out power, he should just keep his 1ZZ-FE and build it...

True, and if he gets it done, then i'll definitely be impressed, that engine seems to have alot more aftermarket support for it too, thanks to the Scion tC.

Alright, put the 2.4 from Camry in a 2003 Corolla S, swap the tranny for the camry tranny, get it rebuilt and put an lsd in it... then build the engine and turbo it (like that 600 scion tc)... hmmm... HMMMM... imagine :D

We definately have enough room in the 05 for the engine. I'm not sure about the drivetrain and axles and stuff would fit.

True...Just curious why don't you just trade in the rolla instead of doing the swap? It'll probably cost least to do a trade-in and less worries about anything going wrong.

To be honest, i've always wanted to get a 2002+ Camry SE 5 Speed, with the 2.4, and turbo it to about 300hp... I think it would be an interesting family car :)

Don't ya think more torque, easier to mod, more aftermarket parts and a hell of a project.

    But how much??

And if the Corolla is a sleeper?
(Looks just a bit lower than stock with wider wheels)

    Then there's the sound.

    A tweaked 2.4 instead of 1.8...........

sounds cool and innovative, go for it! i really like the 2.5 but it makes quite a bit of noise and you're probably better off with de XRS'. i am starting to get tired of 4's though so that is probably why i am going to go with a six even though if its the older 3.0 four cam from the camry but i WILL get my avvy 3.5 in there.

One point I cant believe hasn't been brought up is weight distribution. A 2AZ-FE in the front of a corolla would likely make it handle worse than it already does. I mean our cars already have a major front weight bias, why make that worse? Also, just looking at the size of my old AE102 engine bay, or my new Civic compared to my moms Solara with the 2AZ I really don't see it fitting.

I hear that argument a lot, but it's not really true. The same chassis holds a 4AGZE no problem which is an iron-block supercharged engine, an aluminum block 2.4 isn't going to cause a major enough difference to worry about.

Sometime, if you get a chance, stick 100lbs of weight in your engine bay and drive around... I doubt you'll even notice.

if anything i need weight in the front. Right now it handles very good and hold on very tight without screeching tires! And the way it picks up doesn't allow it to pick up at times when i really need it.for example if i floor it at 35 or 40 mph it doesn't do very well until it hits 4000 rpm then it just shoots. so i figure a 3.0 or 3.5 should do the trick.

true, but it will be worth it or at least i hope so.bu ti am sure it will.
if i get off topic its because i am watching constantine right now hehe.cool movie a bit messed up though.
