Corolla 2006 LE. Everything powers on (radio,cd,clock) but no sound comes out from the speakers, I have no clue was is wrong, there is a factory amp under the passenger seat. All fuses are good.

Did this just happen all of the sudden? Or was the sound cutting in and out before it stopped working?
When you kick on the system - do you get any thump from the speakers?

Could be a number of things - bad/shorted wiring to or from amp and/or the speakers, loose/shorted wiring from the back of the headunit (wiring harness), bad headunit, bad amp, shorted speakers, bad fuse (really have to remove the fuse to check them, also check the fuse block itself), etc.

Before you start any work with the electricals, disconnect the negative battery terminal first. If it is a short somewhere, you don't want to make it worse with live power around the system.

Yeah, I just turned on the car, then no sound was coming out, and the smell of burning plastic came from where the radio is located at. When I try to turn on the system now, nothing, no sound, no thump. I pulled out the fuses and they are all okay, pulled out the head unit and don't see anything burned or loose.

Sounds like it might have shorted out somewhere the hard part is to try and find out where

if u smell smoke from the headunit, its the headunit it self. a friend of mine had this experiance. and yeah. had to return to get a new one. luckily in his case he just bought one.

would that mean something inside the headunit is messed up because it still powers on.

Okay found out that both the headunit and amp were the problem. I hooked up a regular shelf stereo to the speakers and found out that those weren't the problem, so ended up taking it to a shop and had them have a go at it and they to had the problem of no sound, so I had them rewire all the speakers and installed aftermarket headunit and removed the factory amp. Everything is now working. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.
