Before I took my car to the mechanic, it was running smooth, without vibrations or noise. Now after they changed the engine mount, car vibrates a lot and is loud. Anyone know what may be the problem that caused it to vibrate and noisy?

could be your coilpacks? but that means your check engine light would go on, and you wouldnt want to drive even a block down. that happened to me. mmm im also looking into getting engine mount inserts also. let me know what you find out. but yeah if your engine is that shakey should be your mounts. mines is sometimes shakey at 2000 rpm - 2500 rpm then after im fine. so yeah.

They installed solid engine mounts?:D Why did you have it replaced in the first place anyway?

I believe one of them in the front needed to be replaced thats what the mechanic said so ended up purchasing one from toyota and had the mechanic replace it but after that the problem started happening, Vibration and loudness.

hmmm.... is there a way you can localize where the loudness and vibration is coming from? Might help if we have an idea of where the problem seems to be.

The whole front vibrates( steering wheel, dashboard, passenger side). The loudness of talking about is when the gas is pushed andor the car is running, sounds sort of like when someone revs, but the thing is my car is stock, nothing change in the engine. As mentioned before, it use to run smooth and silent but after they change the front engine mount, I believe in the front passenger side. The only thing the mechanic can tell me after I told him it didn't sound like that before was your car is getting old???

maybe your bad engine mount was hiding even worse of a problem.

    take it back.

Sounds like the mount was either replaced improperly or something wasn't bolted back up correctly... i've never heard of that issue. This is one of those instances where I would suggest taking it to a dealership if it's that bad. You may not need them to do the work, but they could at least give you a diagnostic to let you know what's wrong. You could then take it back to that mechanic and tell him to fix his mistake. Just a thought.

okay just rechecked all my lastest purchases and found out that I didn't purchase the engine mount from toyota, got it from kragen's(o'reillys), so I think since its not the one purchased from toyota, it may be why its vibrating and noisy?

That could be possible... With the exception of say, poly mounts, i'd never purchase a mount from another vendor other than Toyota. While most of the time they are probably just fine of a product, the chances of getting something that just isn't going to work out correctly is much higher. The front and two side motor mounts are pretty easy to change out yourself... the rear, not so much... however, in any case, changing out motor mounts is not too hard to do when you're doing them one at a time.

    250!? HOLY HELL!

oh yeah... you're in puerto rico... lol

we can order up the mounts here in the states for wicked cheap... for a 99 corolla the mount prices from like $14 to $50 depending on which mount you're going after. I purchased a whole set for about $125 LOL
