Polyurethane filler in the motor mounts
This is a very simple mod you just need the following stuff:
Spare mounts from the store or yard oem preferred.

I found these on a paseo in the boneyard. Just so you don't have any down time with your car. A tube of 3m window weld and a caulking gun. Peel the bottom panel off the tube then slip it into your gun.here is a pic of the tube.

You can find these at any napa location. Ok now I left the small part on to fill up the tiny areas first on both mounts. then cut down the a bigger size for the not so small parts.

For the larger sized area I took the whole cap off and squirted it in direct so i would not get any air holes.

Then used an old screw driver to smooth it over push any air out. once that was done I left them alone to dry 30 min later they will start to dry up on the out side it takes longer to cure the inside the most important piece of all.

I will give it prolly 3-4 days to fully cure then install them. once I do that I will be doing a rear mount with the same proccess. Also looking into the front mount on the corolla/celica setup too. Hope this helps somewhat with your engine mount problems. Oh yeah i recommend wearing gloves this stuff is supper sticky adheisive.

What is the point of filling the mount, to resist the movement of the whole engine? I thought it needs to be able to flex around, which would be the reason for the mounts in the first place? Confused lol

actually it's best to have no movement. This way it would transfer more torque to the wheels. The reason for soft motor mounts is to dampen engine vibration transfer into the passenger compartment. You'll get more vibration and noise by filling with urethane, using urethane inserts, or aftermarket urethane engine mounts so make sure you can live with it before you do it.

So it's more of a creature comfort thing? Do you support the mod he did as a method or should I go aftermarket?

There's not much aftermarket avaliable for the gen 8. gen 9 have motor mount inserts from energy suspension. And I had speed-source make a set for my gen 7.. not sure if they're compatable though.

I wouldn't recommend window weld, the people I know who done it have had the stuf just crumble off after a while and have to do it again. I would recommend using a 2-part urethane casting system like Flexane by Devcon as with this DIY

However I would recommend only using 60-80 score. 94 score is way too hard IMO.

On the contrary. I have heard people using the 3M window weld with no problems at all. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TRM-8609/?rtype=10

As for why people do it, everything JspeXAE102 said is correct, and also some people that put racing headers on need to have stronger motor mounts so that the header doesn't hit the firewall or anything else for that matter.

Haha yeah I'd like to see you do the back mount with it on the car... And NOT drive it for three or four days, don't you use the car for work?
