    Who's got what? I'm currently using a 26" Viewsonic VX2640w. 102% color gamut. 3ms g2g, 5 b2b. 1920x1200. Upgrading to an HP ZR30w 2560x1600 IPS panel soon. :D

    mmm sexy, I'm running a Viewsonic VX243wm and a Acer V223

both calibrated to 2.2 gamma in OSX and exported to windows the icc profile...

both after calibration look perfect, before calibration viewsonic was too happy with the brights (bloom type oversaturation) and the Acer one was plain bad
now they look almost identical, viewsonic is much brighter even after calibrating

100+% color gamuts are generally for professional use as in art design.

Here is a quick list of the common ranges for different levels of displays:
    • Average LCD: 70 to 75% of NTSC
    • Professional non-Wide Gamut LCD: 80 to 90% of NTSC
    • Wide Gamut CCFL LCD: 92 to 100% of NTSC
    • Wide Gamut LED LCD: 100%+ of NTSC
The HP ZR30w I just ordered is 100% NTSC and 99% AdobeRGB 1998 gamut rated. :) The wide color gamut of the screen is due to the CCFL lighting it utilizes. This review article explains it in the ZR30w.
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/3754/a-new-30-contender-hp-zr30w-review

The Dell U3011 IPS panel is rated even higher at 117% percent. It represents more colors than typical monitors. Both the U3011 and the ZR30w can represent 1.07 billion colors. This does make images oversaturated and beyond lifelike, but with proper calibration, it's as accurate to real life as you can get.

for example, the viewsonic I got that made over bloomed colors, which needed a nice spanking....calibration

I used to have a 32" tv/monitor setup. But the tv didn't do so well as a monitor so I sold it and now I just have a 15 incher...

TV's are horrible pc monitors due to the resolution to screen size ratio. Every pixel is stretched and looks horrible. The only reason my monitor is as epic as it is is due to the crazy resolution on it.

Yup, not to mention the 60hz refresh rate. Blacks were also terrible on that set. I'm looking into getting a new monitor, something decent at least. That 15" is killing me it's way passed its life expectancy haha.

I suppose the LED version of my monitor may be better, and 24" for 200$ is not bad

I suggest a decent sized IPS panel over any TN. You can get a decently sized one for under 200 now.
