my linux station/ build area, I do lots of work on friends computers and I work with linux at work so to keep my self up to date I have built a linux box running virtual machines of Ubuntu, Debian and Suse, the workstation is all hooked up through a KVM switch so when I am working on a build I don't have to unhook everything

Thinking of building a system too... Gonna be my first AMD rig.

    CPU: AMD x6 1090T
    CPU Cooler: Corsair H50
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 (Sata3 & USB 3.0)
Graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro) 1GB
    Memory: G.Skill 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600MHZ
    PSU:Corsair 750TX
Case: Haven't decided on the case... Was looking at the CM Storm Scout.

Will be re-using my HD, monitor, optical driving from my current rig. Mostly will be doing Photoshop and development work (C# .NET, SQL, etc). Maybe a couple of games but I have the PS3/Wii for that anyway.

A normal TN still will not compare to an IPS.

Sounds like a netbook instead of a laptop. Should have Windows 7 Starter.

Starter is the same as the normal version just with a few restrictions that allows Windows to be run on 1GB of ram instead of 2GB. For example, you can't change the background image among other things.
