that's why there's birth control. either you're dating out of league and you're willing to wait and she's getting it somewhere else or no other guys are attracted to her. most girls will not hold out.

    Exactly.

Ive been with my girl for 10 years now and the only time we were using condoms were in the beginning of the relationship....condoms suck and its been about 9.5 years since we've used em. Pill is pretty damn effective. Pulling out in addition to the pill is even better. (havent done that in 9.5 years either hahahaha...unless to...well.....you know. :)

IMO Pill's effectiveness resides with the person using it. I dont trust my gf, thus she's on the "shot".

I trust her. I just think it's a hassle to have to take a pill everyday. I know I won't want to do it.

I believe that birth control PILLS have to be taken every day at close to the same time everyday.

i took a pill every day for years. never missed a pill, never missed the time i needed to take it. millions of other women do this without issue. you said you didn't trust her. i quoted it. why change your mind on that?

Cmon, I think youre taking it out of context. Id assume that he meant that he didnt trust her to remember to take it every day.

You say millions do, but there are also millions that dont trust themselves to remember to take a pill at the same time every day so they go with alternative methods of birth control.

When I was in Catholic School back in the 1970s (yes, I'm that old) they, needless to say, taught abstinence and we had much fewer teen pregnancies than our counterparts in the Public Schools. But the teaching of abstinence by itself probably wouldn't do any good. Being a Catholic School, they were also allowed to teach a moral and religious message along with it; something that is forbidden in Public Schools.

Also, since Catholic kids tend to come from Catholic parents, there was much more parental involvement than in your average Public School families.

Abstinence works, but it must be combined with other teaching and parental involvement.

I'm sorry that my GF [and lots of other people out there] isnt as perfect as you are. Acknowledging that she might not be able to do that everyday is good enough for me, thus the shot.

    Bingo.

I trust her, but not enough to put the rest of my life into her (for now). If we had a kid right now, there goes the rest of my life.

Plus, I mentioned this conversation to her the other day and she even said herself that she would hate to do that every day and if pills and condoms were the only birth control out there, we prolly wouldnt be having sex. Yup, thats how much I dont want a kid right now and Im glad that we are on the same page.

Although she is nowhere near perfect, Im happy with her.

    Billy Joel....

But its more of the fact that Catholics preach abstinence and push that part of the religion, and less on the fact that you were in a private school versus a public school.

Catholics teaching abstinence is joke. They are also against birth control which you can see by the mexican population growing and growing. I will look for the study, but mexicans and blacks make up most of the pregnancy and STD percentage even though there are less of them in the US.

I am a Catholic so I should be ashamed of myself. But even the philippines has been struggling with teen preggos as well. Not to mention the fact that a lot of them are getting abortions in a country where it is illegal.

Do you have some legitimate statistics and sources to back that up, or is it just your opinion?
