    Vegas anyone?

Its been a while since I created a new thread.

I was just curious if anyone has been to the MGM in Vegas? If so, are there any places I should check out or places to eat that are affordable (I heard Vegas is expensive).

My school had a contest. The grand prize was a fully paid trip to the WPPI convention. It's a Wedding/Portrait Photographer convention that is a pretty big deal. Well, I was one of the winners and I'm being put in the MGM. I've never been to Vegas so I wasn't sure what to checkout or do on my "off time" when I'm not in seminars. I'll be there from a Friday night til a Wednesday afternoon.

    Thanks,
    Will

Since the economy has taken a big hit, Vegas is hurting for business. It's not quite as expensive as it used to be.

vegas is not expensive, but there's high end dining which i stay away from. check out city center as that's the new project that was just completed. cheap places to eat are off of the strip, but people tend to stay in the hotels. any of the cirque shows are good to see if you don't mind $60-$100 a ticket. what kind of things are you looking to do?

i actually heard vegas wasn't doing too bad...its more the real estate in vegas hurting as opposed to the actual industry. we just went a couple weeks ago before school started and it was packed as ever, they have really good hotel deals going on.

The Flamingo was pretty rundown the last time I stayed there. I won't be going back there. Paris is pretty nice. MGM had deals for 100/night I remember.

I've been in vegas for a week... I stayed in the tropicana. there's a bunch of reasonably priced buffets.... and they're all basically the same, atleast go once for the breakfast buffet in the Mirage and the dinner one in hard rock cafe, mgm has a buffet too, don;t remember where exactly... but the lunch buffet there is like... one of the best...

prices range in the 30~40 per head... but it's worth it.
all I did was look around and attend the PMA in 2008
    ggood times

don't forget to go to freemont street!

it wasn't too bad, the rooms were clean and we had one over looking the strip. The casino wasn't too ventilated. But for 55/night any college kid would scoop that up. not to mention to nudie 21+ pool

I swear at those buffets, Asians only eat those damn crab legs. I eat some, but it's not worth all the trouble to crack them open and eat only those. Must be upbringing and how seafood is more expensive. My parents do it too. I just lol at them scrambling to be first.

if you want a seafood buffet, go to the rio if you want to drop the money on a buffet. euro pools are not open in the winter, so going to those is not going to happen. if you want cheap, the sunset station has a 3.99 breakfast at the coco's which is way off the strip and actually near where i live. buffet @ asia has a good buffet for like $18 which has seafood and mongolian bbq, but it's also off the strip. i think for $30 you get 24 access to the tropicana buffet. if you have a group of people, go to dicks last resort in excalibur.

Ive never "wasted" money on a poker table. I do pretty well playing poker nowadays, and very rarely leave a casino down money in poker. If you dont know how to play poker, sure, its wasting it I guess.

Slots on the other hand.....THATS a waste of money.

I go to vegas atleast 3 times a year. Last time was on New Year's 2010... I'll be back on March 19th for a tournament.

    First time in Vegas huh...
    - Enjoy the strip: Great photo opp
    - Don't forget to drop by Fremont Street.
    - Budget your gambling money: Mon-Thur have lower min bet
    - If you like to go clubbing I've been to Tryst, xS, Tao, and VooDoo (nice view but old crowd compared to the others) and haven't been disappointed yet.
    - Do you like shopping? AFAIK, there are atleast 3 outlet malls.
    - Golf? Only played in Dessert Willow and Revere. Vegas got nice greens.
    - Shows? Le Reve is one of the nicer shows I've watched.

There are alot more stuff you could do in Vegas. Just enjoy.

Poker is actually fun. Slots isn't just a waste of money. It's a waste of my time.
