It was a great game. I don't think the Chinese touched the puck once.

qualifying is different from competing. people "qualify" and end up being 65th overall. just because you qualify doesn't mean you are good.

I think its safe to say he's good if he qualified for the olympics. I don't think the olympics has a walk on policy. The olympics is for elite athletes, that's why no name athletes stay home.

Its not safe to say he's at olympic level just because he qualified for the olympics. As i've stated previously. It doesn't matter if you qualify or not, it matters how you place.

That doesn't make sense. He's in the olympics but not at the olympic level?? He may not be a contender but he's still worthy.

Not at all does it mean he's at the olympic level. Just because you make your olympic team at home, doesn't mean you belong in the olympics. This was a perfect example, he was too inexperienced, and it resulted in his death. Even with the adjustments to the course they are hitting the same speeds he did, and no one has crashed and burned like him.

On any given day even the best can screw up. At the last British Open, Tiger Woods didn't even make the cut. But nobody questioned if he deserves to be there.

I understand that you're saying just because you make the olympics doesn't mean that you're a good player. Perfect example for that is in this thread.... The chinese hockey team. By the way, they had to touch the puck at least once, they did score one goal.

I think it depends on the country. A superpower like USA will sent it's best players, but a small country or one with limited resource like Bermuda or Somalia or whatever will just send whoever just to have someone to represent.

Tiger has proven himself over and over and over. This kid hasn't. Tiger has experience, this kid didn't. You can't compare an expert to a novice and call it fair.

Yea, if he wasnt good enough he wouldnt have made it that far. only the best get to go to the olympics. He was at the top of the game and yea he didnt have a lot of experience but then again tons of athletes there are there for the first time. anyway thats a scary sport as it is. I love skating and snowboarding and doing anything really fast but im not going down an ice shoot at 90 mph. mad respect to those guys. just watching that video makes my neck hurt

Just like how that off duty police officer couldn't stop a runaway rental Lexus. It proves police can still be noobs. In the end, it's all Darwinism and survival of the fittest.

I still think you have to be pretty damn good to make it to the olympics. Plus I heard that they don't let people practice on that track anyway, so it soesn't matter if you've been luging for 30 years, a new track is gonna be hard.

I read an article that said Canada wasn't letting people practice on the course that much, which is why many people were having trouble with it.
