    Engine losing acceleration

My 2003 Corolla S is losing its power, before when its only 30k miles it goes 100 4000rpm going uphill at the California desert now at 56k miles it only goes 80-85 at 4500rpm. Do you guys have any idea on what happened to it and what should I do to make it perform better?

I always use Mobil1 5W-30 and change it every 5k miles and i also clean my TRD filter every 8k-10k miles.

what basic maintainance have you performed or kept track of. i'm probably gonna sound retarted asking this but did u change ur air filter?? if you have an intake, clean the filter?? that would be a start i think. is it throwing a CEL?

when my battery terminals were swapped out with much fatter terminals, my car seemed to run so much better....so my car's electrical systems were checked and my dad's friend did everything he could to it, reground, etc.. and when i got it back, it ran awesome....but then of course i had to blow my engine.....so newayz, electrical could be another factor you wanna look into...

TB is Throttle Body. the little circular tube peice attached to the engine where the intake pipe connects.

bigger battery terminals are cheap....just go by ur local auto zone or something and pay like $10-$20 for a good set of fat terminals.....im not sayin it will solve your problem but its a great place to start....

check your tranny fluid and if its dirty change it immediately especially if its black or a dark brown. Also do what they are explaining such as TB cleaning, and having your electrical systems checked.

I'm either thinking on a 3SGTE swap from Doc by the beginning of next year maybe Christmas time :D hehehe OR just boost my 1zz even though it won't get me to the power levels I'd want but I dk trying to adjust my budget to see which is better option for the money and reliability

here is what i would have to do if i rebuild my blown one.
Buy a new complete internal setup(pistons, crank, rings, bearings, connecting rods) lower bearing cap and new screws, new head(warped), new cams(warped),Valves (all of them), timing chain, crank pulley and sensor and a completely new block. so its cheaper if i just replace the entire engine.

Oh yeah a new torque converter and flywheel as well.

Did you leave anything out of that list that wouldn't make it a whole new engine? :D
