Or you can be dumb and kiss your ass goodbye. I can see it's a popular option these days.

all this time with the floor mat recall and now this gas pedal recall - i couldn't quite figure out why people not just shift the car into neutral so the car would slow down/coast, hit the brakes and stop.
i heard of the 911 call of the famous CHP guy who died with his family in his lexus when the gas pedal apparently got stuck. quite a chilling 911 call when you listen to it.

i think not everyone is stupid that they don't know how to put the car in N.
i think it's more panic that makes people forget everything or how to do things.

i'm quite experienced when it comes to cars and fixing them and stuff.
yet... it happened to me 2x where i panicked and almost had an accident.
in my sienna van, i use aftermarket rubber mats and the mat keeps sliding up towards the gas/brake pedal. twice it happened to me where the rubber mat would crumple up under the brake pedal and when i step on the brakes - nothing happens. both times it happened to me, i totally freaked out and thought i lost my brakes. then suddenly it kicked in and i remember that it's my mat, so i just slam on the brakes and the car slows down.

for some people, when panic sets in... they totally forget what they're supposed to do and unfortunately, the outcome can be a tragic one.
similar situation during a fire, no matter how much training you got - when it happens, people panic.

that incident happened only a couple miles from me, it was really sad... I couldn't believe they played that call on tv, with all the screaming and stuff, it was terrible to hear.

Panic is part of life. If you can't deal with it, too bad. Game over. It'll get you somewhere else down the road.

Better to go earlier than painfully drag it out and expose others to their stupidity. I really feel bad for that officer's family in the car with him.
