    New racing seats...

I just purchased a pair of new racing seats that will be here on Wednesday. I was driving home last week and I down shifted to 2nd on an on-ramp because some nimrod wanted to pass me at the last minute when the lanes merged and when I dumped the clutch it snapped my drivers seat in half :) It was a very unique experience. Anyways that is why I purchased some new seats and since my interior of my car is based on RED/BLACK vinyl I fell in love with the seats below. I'll post some pictures of them installed next week and let you know how they feel incase anyone else is looking.

Yeah the metal brackets that hold the back of the seat up and down snapped clean in half. I've driven the car for years with no problems I just think all the planets were in line or something for this to happen. Right now the back of the seat is propped up with some shit in the back seat to make the car driveable but yeah this suprised the shit out of me :)

Got them off eBay for $320 shipped for 2 seats. They do have the reversed color your looking for too. If you can't find them on ebay they also sell them at www.racingdimensions.com.

I found some that are the exact same seat for $240 shipped but they were red and black fabric. I really wanted vinyl to get a perfect match on my interrior and the vinyl costs more because its harder to sew with because of the thickness. At any rate I'm sure I'll be happy with them. On wednesday I'll try to install them but it will probably take a few days since I'll have to fab some shit.

I just got the seats today. They are exactly what I wanted and I'll take some pics of them next to the stock seats tonight when I pull them out of the car. THey are going to rock. However I have to agree with SXLOSTV1 that they are going to get hot as shit in the summer. But I'm going to tint my windows and when I park put in one of those sun visor things.

    >>>That's the thing w/ vinyl or leather during summer specially when you're wearing shorts. At least the fabric absorbs the sweat but make sure you spray it w/ that Fabric Protector/Scotch Guard from 3M.

Helps protect against spills and stains, keeping your upholstery looking cleaner longer. Will not change the look or feel of typical automotive upholstery. Odorless when dry. Use in cars, trucks, boats, RVs and more.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: On what surfaces can I use Scotchgardâ„¢ Protector for Automotive Upholstery?

A: You can use it on your auto’s cloth upholstery as well as the carpeting and matting. Always check for colorfastness first by testing in an inconspicuous area.

Q: How often should I reapply?

A: With wear from dirt and traffic, the upholstery and carpet's protection wears away with time. The more traffic and/or dirt, the faster it wears. Also, if you use any cleaners on your upholstery or carpet, this can diminish the effectiveness of the protector. We recommend reapplying Scotchgard protector after every cleaning.

Q: How long does it take to dry?

A: Under average temperature conditions (70 degrees F, 50% Humidity), upholstery should dry in four to six hours. Longer dry times could occur under the following conditions: colder temperatures, more humid conditions, or heavy applications. Providing for proper ventilation for the product will also provide a quicker dry time in most conditions.

Finally got a few pictures of the passenger side. I'm going to weld the bracket for the drivers side on saturday. I wanted to play with the passenger side first so I could still drive the car. Anyways here are the pics of the bracket and the seat.

This is the bracket, pretty ugly but strong as crap

    Here it is installed

Here is another one of it in the car, and a nice reflection of my gut :)

The car is black :) The blue in the photo is from the light reflecting off my house :)

The seats rock though. Tomorrow morning we head over to the metal yard to pick up some more 1/4th plate steel and we're going to fab the 2nd bracket. I'll take a picture with both seats in tomorrow night and post it. As for the rear seat I would love to a do a matching cover but I need to find someone with mad sewing skills first :)

I agree, I don't think it would be too hard to do the rear seats to match the front seats. since the rear seat is just 2 peices to cover with material. We'll see though. These seats I got off eBay are hell comfortable and fit me like a glove. And the sliders were pretty good too. The only single thing I don't like about the seats is there is about 1/2 - 1inch of play in the back rest when nobody is sitting in the seat because of the mechanism they use to recline it is a sproket design and has a little play in it. If you actually sitting in the seat its rock solid but if nobody is in the seat it can rock back and forth just a hair. But its enough for me to notice :)
