what do you think of mini cooper?

i'm trying to decide on my next car. i know, i know. i just got my tC in february, but i like to plan ahead. i love the styling of the cooper S. they seems to be pretty reliable right?

the base model cooper just dones't do anything for me, the engine is so weak, 115 hp is like what my corolla has. the S has 163, i wonder how that would compare to my tC.

anyone own or test driven one before?

It's a nice car, i say its the absolute best handling FF car thanks to its short wheel base.. a friend of mines has one, i feel british every time i he lets me drive it. As for weight, it weights pretty much the same as my corolla, i'm sure the tc weighs much more thanks to that big honkin glass roof.. less weight = better power/weight ratio.

i like the S, and its supercharged, so yea, even the base modle would be faster than 7th gen rolla cuz of the weight...just go watch The Italian Job, it will make u want one even more

I've drove a 04 S and is not bad really fast and stuff sweet looking but if you get in a accident ur dead man, those things are so small just like the old miata.... other than that the car is pretty sweet, I'd say go for it.

I think the coopers are pretty cool. I raced a non-s and ate him for breakfast in my 2001 corolla. I didn't beat him by more then a few car lengths so I bet the S would own!

I'd rather have a fully restored old mini with RHD :)

There's some company in like Alabama or some shit that does restomods and drops Honda Type R engines in the minis. I think they range from $15-25k fully restored, and that includes a frame off.

while it is a nice car, it got some less than favorable reviews in the car and driver used car review mag i read recently.

that mini with volks looks terrible.

while its a nice/fun little car, add up the bells and whistles and its far more than I'm willing to pay for something FWD.

go to iihs.org and check out the ratings on the coopers crash test they did very well for a small car. the regular model has muchos problemos and the S has so little that it nearly came out perfect! i love them the only thing is the price down here they start at 24K and up to 27 or 28 for the fully loaded S. but what the hey it runs 14's so yeah i'd buy one.

Don't like the volks, but some mesh wheels similar to Toyrolla's would look SICK on that car

i'm actually contemplating between keeping the rolla and gettin a e36 m3 as a project car or just screw taht idea all together and get the cooper S as soon as i have my CS Diploma in hand :). Its a good car. very tight handling. one of my chic friends has it and i just love to drive it.

trust me buying stuff for the M3 is very expensive and very very hard to find exactly what you are looking for. my neighbors supercharger came out to 7K from Dinan and then he sold it then bought a stage 2 for 8.5K and all the stuff he has invested has got the car around to 600 RWHP and it has come at a price. everything you could possibly imagine is on the intake engine and exhaust. a total of about 35K has been invested and the interior is in the process of getting done.

i know the prices i'm lookin at. a friend of mine has 2 AMG's for daily drivers and he got the e36 quite recently and that seemed like a good idea rather than getting a 01 S4 and playing with that. i'm still trying to weigh my options. He definitely has a lot more cash than I do but hey you only live once right?

EDIT: No i wont be stupid and go in debt over some stupid car. if i go the route of a brand new car all together i'd save for a house but I'd like to live this hobby for once without having to worry about the cash :)
