93-97 Floor bars

I know they make some for the newer corollas like the 98 n stuff (on ebay) but i cant seem to find them for our gen....if its sturdy enough, i plan to bolt down the racing harness to it, but even if i do get it, its strictly experimental so if it doesnt work out, then it will just be there for looks or something....but newayz, ne1 kno where i can get a hold of one??

the one i have on my car is universal. as long as it fits between 48 inches and 53 inches from left to right, itll work.

I think they look funny. doesn't a rear sway bar do the same thing.. I mean why have something inside your car when you can hide it underneath... that and when I get 5 points I'm going to attach them to the latch hooks for kiddy seats

^^ no, that is a chassis brace. A sway bar controls body roll and induce/reduce over and understeer by limiting traction.

so they do do diffrent things??

A chassis brace does nothing more than reduce chassis flex.

so just bolt them down to the sides?

well, fastrolla said something against bolting them down to the sides when he installed his seats but i thought by attaching it to a floor bar, it would look pretty cool and give it that "race" look, hehe...

It bolts to the sides... where the seat belt bolts to the wall. look at the far end of the picture to see how to mount. i didnt bother drilling holes in my chassis cause those 2 bolts are all you really need.

Would the floor bar interfere with a harness bar from sparco??

you may need a longer bolt bolt to go into the wall thats all. Sparco makes a harness bar for zze110??

Also, as long as it can potentially save your life, it doesnt have to look good.

you can wrap the harness on the floor bar. it looks neat, makes me wanna get one

wrapping a harness that low wouldn't be safe. in case of an accident, force from the harness strapped to the bottom could crush your shoulders. i think it's recommended to have it mounted straight back or slightly diagonally down.

i know that fastrolla has his strap onto his back seats....i dun wanna do that, makes it hard for people to get in and out.

I would rather make it hard to get in and out of the car rather than a possibilty of crushing my spine...

For AE102...... Either Corbeau or Sparco makes a Double buckle 3 point harness. The double buckle allows you to detatch the harness 1/2 way and allow for more seating on the back. And it wont crush your spine from mounting it to the floor.

yup NEVER mount it to the floor.. the ideal way to mount a harness is horizontal using a rollcage with a harness bar. Most "street" (non camlock) harnesses allow you to mount them to the factory seatbelt bolts for rear seatbelts. And the double buckle ones like the one sklostv1 mentioned allow u to unbuckle them for rear passengers.

I own a set of Schroth 4pt double buckle harnessed myself.

just got to this thread, so basically from those that have it, it does help and u do feel the diference after installing right?
And does anyone with AE101 tried to install one of those e-bay lower tie bars? i can's see what i could bolt this thing to... civics and intergas have a place on the rear suspension for it i don't think we do.

fastrolla96 has one on his car....pretty simple install and i rode in his car afterwards and i felt less flex in the car when he turned as if the car stayed flat and he didnt rub as much on his 18's either..
