    H&R spring color. help!!!

So I am going to install some H&R springs today and I opened the box today and the springs are a teal color. Is this right. They are for a 98-02 Corolla. I thought they were going to be black. THe model number is 54691. Did I get the right springs?

Well i'm a little concerned about the springs. I installed them and the number on the springs says 29891, but the number on the box says 54691. Everywhere i've looked thhe model number for Corollas is 54691. They are installed, so they fit. The front feels a little stiff. And the drop is more in the front than the back, so the wheel gap looks even, but I just finished putting them in so they need some time to settle in

They are indeed a tealish or blue color. I've had 'em on my 98 for over 2 years now and they're fantastic.

I know they have a good reputation, because thats the reason I bought them. I just drove the car about 30 miles and they feel pretty good. I have kybs right now. But I think they will feel alot better with some Tokicos or Bilsteins

Koni's would be my choice, but not sure if they're available for the 8th gen.

They are excellent with Tokicos. I have had them for 2 years, stiff enough to "feel the road" while still being nice to drive on daily.

They have something like gaskets that you can add in between the springs to prevent that.

Pics are coming soon. And if you have squeaks in the cold I would think it would be the struts because the fluid compresses.

Atomicaz, can you see what model number your springs have?

I was talking to a friend and he was telling me about someone he knew that had really stiff springs on his coilovers, but since he had the struts custom made to match the spring rate it was a smooth ride.

    1) Can you have a smooth ride as long as the springs and struts are set up correctly?
    2) How would you calculate it? What can be measured on struts that is similar to spring rates on springs?

I was thinking of just getting adjustable struts, sounds the easiest way. But it would be nice to save some money if I knew that I could calculate which struts would be best for me.

Yes. But you would have to a lot of research to match them up perfectly. I'm not even sure how you can measure compatibility.

damn man, I started a thread about being able to tell the front springs from the back :( I don't know where to look for part numbers.

I kept the info that came in the box, but no model number. Mine are a teal color soooo it seems correct.

Hah me too, mine did not come with the insulators like the TEINS do. Only the right front does....any OTC remedies?

Well I called H&R and they said the number on the springs is right. And then I said, so the model number and the number on the springs are different. And they said yes.

Don't get Bilsteins... those are OEM replacement struts that will feel similar to your current KYB's. Tokicos are a bit stiffer.

Koni Yellows would be best though.

I have tried silicone spray and it only works for a few days then it wears off.

Ok. So I've had the springs for almost a month now, which is probably around 1,000 miles. The springs have felt alot smoother lately. I didn't realize as the springs break in that they will actually feel smoother. I'm really happy with the way they feel. Here's a pic of the drop.

I already have 17's. I just need to smooth out some scuffs on the lip and get tires.
