    RX330 or Highlander

ive test drove both, IMO the highlander has more bang for the buck than the RX330. maybe its me expecting more cuz its a lexus but compared teh Merc and BMW it feels cheapely built. My dad is in the market for one after my mom shot down the idea of a gettin a crossfire :p

the RX is a very well suited SUV and has excellent torque overall and it worth paying for the extra cash. the highlander is thesame but with a less refined quality than the RX330 and from what i know right now the RX has been the best selling midsize luxury SUV since it made its debut back in 1998 and outselling the BMW X3 and X5 and the M-B M-class and the M-class is too much for too little the merc and the bmw are only if you want to make a statement.Plus the Merc and the BMW have fallen back lately due to reliability problems in thier elcectrical systems. LEXUS has had the best reliabilty to date from over seas car companies and has very and i do mean very few problems. So take your pick!

i know what you mean but if you go test drive a 4x4 limited highlander vs a 4x4 rx330 with all options the only thing hte highlander lacks is the bi-xenons. it even offers the GPS navigationa and is still 10,000 cheaper. maybe its just me that feels the highlander seems to have a better finish cuz i'm lookin at it through the eyes of a toyota.

so you think the RX330 would still be a better choice. i mean my dad's no really concerned about the extra 10 grand. hes kinda stuck on the RX but me and my bro keep insisting on the Highlander.

For the 10 grand in savings, buy the Highlander and supercharge the poor thing ;)

Toyota=Everyday Driving correct. so that means as long as it get you from one place to another
Lexus=The Relentless Pursuit Of Perfection so with that said the lexus will have a better fit and finish overall the highlander is a good suv but if i had the flow i'd go with the Lexus the name says it all. Plus the styling is better in my opinion on the RX
Lexus is toyota so what is there to debate about. if you feel more comfortable in a toyota because of the nameplate go for it but don't go out and buy something that you feel are forced into.

there isnt a debate about being more comfortable in toyota. i guess my prespective is different also considering he drives 60 miles to work one way. i mean for not that much more it seems like the RX is just dumping a lot of money into the hole.

Ultimately, its up to him, if he likes the RX more, then he should get the RX, actually, tell him to get the RX400h (the hybrid one).

that is what i was thinking as well but the problem is that you can't go off road with it the 4WD is only for on-road traction. that sucker can take off really quick and the 400H has craploads of torque.

For the off-road part, your dad doesn't sound like he'd take it off road though?

imo u can't compare a X5 or the ML to RX330 totally different class the RX330 is the entry level of lux SUV... the GX470 or LX470 is the right one to compare w/ the ML or X5... and both the GX and the LX will kick the ML and X5 off road... one is basically a 4Runner the LX is a rebadge Land Cruiser

look it up and they do compare (trust me or not) i have been researching vehicles and have been helping consumers here in our area purchase cars and time and time again they have been compared by price range and the accomidations. I am just telling you from what i have seen and experienced with all the purchases i have been though with clients.
It also competes with the GX itself. The GX is the same platform of the ES330 only beefed up with a hardier design and structure.

gx isnt on the es330 platform. its based on the 4runner. rx is based on the es/camry.

but go with the rx400h. lots of power plus the fuel econ. of a 4 banger.
