Pointless unless you actually use it. It's the same as having a big ricer wing on the trunk. =P

I want one too!!! I live in Hawai'i so I'll fit right in using it or not because here they are more used for surfboards. I'll use it to haul shit though.

i see it all the time out here in vegas. they can look cool, but it's for a purpose that no one uses it for and no need for it. i bet most people are over weight and don't even own a bike. i actually go mountain biking, but i just stick in the back of my fj.

Reminds me of back in the 1970s during the CB radio craze. At the time, JC Whitney sold a fake CB antenna. Why? I guess so you could look cool and not have to spend the money on a real CB radio and antenna.

let me get this straight. having a useless bike rack on a car with no bike to put on it is better than having a hood on the car? if a bike rack is actually being used than it's a different story.

    This is what Rolla02 meant.

It's that Volkswagen trend. Some other cars have picked it up too.

I personally think it looks retarded.

i know he said rusted and i know what the rusted hood is. i've had a vw in the past and currently have an '80 caddy. a car needs a hood rusted or not, it doesn't need a bike rack which is what this thread was talking about. comparing something that is needed versus something that's not is not a do comparison.

    It says Useless Four Door.

Yea but the rusted hood on a new Passat or any car looks like total and utter ass thats covered in shit.

I am not saying that a car with a bike rack with or without a bike looks stupid, I am just saying it looks interesting, I personally saw that Civic when I was down at Tail of The Dragon and chuckled when I first saw it.

a bike rack is useless on any car if it's not being used. if a cargo rack is being used than there's a point to it and i don't know why it has become a vw versus 'X" debate when this was about a bike rack. vw does have a history on older cars to include cargo racks on some models.

Bottomline is don't get it if you're not going to use it. Otherwise, we will flame the hell out of you. :D Done.

I dont quite understand the current "rusted hood" trend, but in some instances I think it looks pretty cool
    [IMG]

    Its a trend from Europe.
The vw culture/scene (European scene overall) is a TOTALLY different car scene than any other out there. Totally different crowd/vibe at any VW shows I go to.

that one looks nice. i think on the newer vw's it comes down to how the hood has rusted.

i am amazed at how long the euro scene has been going on out here in vegas. people will offer their house to visitors even if they don't know them. there's a certain thing about owning a vw and meeting the other owners than makes it an amazing experience.
