    V6 swaps becoming popular???

Hi, some of u remember me when I had my 94 AE101 corolla (which i dearly miss and sold back in April). Currently driving my 92 Lexus ES300 5 speed which is pretty rare and fun.

Lately I've been watchin youtube vids on Civics and Integras with a J30/32/35 V6 swaps from Accord, TL, and CL. Escorts with KL-ZE 2.5L v6 from Probe, MX6, Millenia, and 626. Nissan Sentras with VQ-series engine swaps from Altima and Maximas. MR2's and Celicas with 1mz/3mz-fe's, 3vz-fe, and 2GR-FE from Avalon, Camry/Solara, and Lexus ES-series.

This makes me wanna do that and buy another Corolla exacly like the one I had and do a V6 swap. I know the economy is pounding us at this moment but when theres enough funds 4 me to raise after purchasing my 1st home, I really want to buy another AE101/102 corolla n hopefully by then b the 1st to do this swap.

Any opinions or comments is welcome and suggestions, but take a look at the youtube vids and type in the keywords of the car u can imagine with a v6 swap as listed above.

I think people may be doing this because of the Lotus Evora with the Camry V6 in it.

A v6 in a Corolla would only be good for straight lines if it does work out, not for me. But if you want to do that go for it man.

I'd rather just buy something with a V6 in it already, like the G35.

Yeah, if you want a Toyota and want a V6 swap, look into an mr2. Its not common, but not unheard of. Or like Rolla said, get a car with a v6 in it, like what you have now.

i think civics with LSvtec or maybe with those RSX engines are better than with a v6 mainly because of weight. now for sentras, well, they really have no one else to swap engines with other than maximas.

I think, it might be cheaper just to mod whatever engine the corolla might have... But since you already have a donor engine... Idk...
It would definitely be cool tho for you to do that v6 swap on a corolla.

It would be sick if you converted the corolla to mid engine 2 sitter, :druel:

Like that yaris they did... Cute MR2 like thing.

    EDIT:
To OP: its not new that people are doing these swaps. Same concept as the old days... Put a more powerful engine in a light car = win

Yeah, but that's too easy. If I had the right combination of time, skills and money, I'd do a V6 Swap in an AE101 just to see if I could do it. It's more about the challenge and the bragging rights than anything else.

It's been tried with an 8th gen already. Ever heard of the infamous Duwayne McClendon of C3 Racing? hahaha Ok not mid engine, but 2 seater. LOL

I can source a 1MZ-FE with computer and harness from a camry or solara for a decent price but harder to find the E153 5 speed tranny that comes with them. Since i work for Toyota, discounts help...

I wanted to do this on my corolla that i had b4 selling it. It b cool to do this since i can get a 1mz thats rebuildable and then buy another corolla and start the swap. I wonder if this catches Dr. tweak's attention on an entirely different swap on our corollas...

We already got 4age's 16 and 20v swaps, modded 4A-FE/7A-FE's with turbo, 3sgte's, and 4agze's. I know and understand money is tight on us since we all are so limited on mods, but when time is right. big things can happen to our little corolla community. Just giving away ideas of what else whe can do to our cars especially our Prism ppl.

Do it man, think out the box just make sure you get the suspension sitting right so that it can corner.

I am knee deep in a Miata Conversion.....Stroked, balanced, blueprinted and maybe blown 5.0 liter V8 should be fun once done

I've thought about picking up a cheap MR2 NA shell and putting a V6 in it - would be an awesome DD...but really, they don't get nearly the power that we are easily pulling from the 3S, so I dunno...I would want moar powah, I think. :p

Wouldn't the additional weight of the V6 throw off the Corolla's already front heavy weight distribution even more?

Very true. Same applies to swapping the 3SGTE in a Corolla as well.

It's an iron block compared to the lightweight aluminum 1ZZFE.

When I was looking at 3SGTE engines before, the vendor mentioned that it would weight about 350lbs for the engine+head+plumbing. I think they mentioned just the block and head, dry, would weight a little over 200lbs.

So 4agze or blacktops will still be best... but still do the v6 for fun.

The 1mz-fe and 3mz-fe's are all aluminum engine. 3vz-fe got aluminum heads and cast iron block. There are guys somewhere in this forum or other corolla forums with 3sgte's. they might be able to tell us how does it drive with that engine since rayray1 mentioned that it may throw off the corolla's weight distribution.

Suspension and braking systems may need to be upgraded too to give better support in order to accept the v6 swap. Mercedes' smallest car the C63 AMG got a huge 6.3L v8 stuffed in that car and claims that it handles great. Larger brakes and suspension had to be upgraded for that model compared to other c-class models.

You are missing one small detail... I think the c63 is RWD and the corolla is not. Plus, MB claims it handles well, lets wait til other people gets their hands on it..

I think it will be cheaper to just get a car with the v6 in it already, seriously cheaper and with better handling power etc.
