    Towing

There's not really a category for this, so I'll put it here.

Do you think a Rolla would have any difficulty towing this?

    http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=66771

The reason I'm thinking about it is because when I go to car shows, I take so much sh!t with me, that I run out of trunk space (thanks to my subwoofer box). Besides, I thought I could paint it the match the car.

I can get a Class 1 hitch for about $135.

600 lb cap on a trailer that small, you'd dog around a little, but I've seen corollas pulling all sorts of wierd crap. You won't have a problem.

You'd have to fill that with iron to make 600 lbs in that small thing. If you're carrying normal things that would go in the trunk, I don't see a problem. If its heavy it would be better because it would put less stress on your rear suspension.

Oh, I'll make sure it is balanced and everything. I'd be carrying stuff like a small suitcase, my, detailing stuff, my boxes of trophies, lawn chairs, etc. Nothing too heavy.

I'm also concerned if that 55mph maximum speed is for real, or just a low number the manufacturer picked to protect themselves from liability. The idea of traveling to a show 500 miles away at 55mph doesn't thrill me.

55 is the "maximum" speed based upon tire size. I wouldn't suggest running 500 miles at 90, but as long as you have a couple hundred pounds of weight in there, you'll be fine at 65-70. You will get speed wobble though. Short width trailers with tiny tires bounce like crazy. I pulled an aluminum boat trailer with an 18 foot tongue, unloaded with a real short track width like that. Could barely keep that thing on the road hitting a bump. So if you buy one of these, make sure you put weight in it.

Why are you going to a show 500 miles away? My brother lives 600 miles away and I haven't visited him in over a year. 55mph would take you over 10 hours.

I just like going to shows. (OK, maybe 500 is a bit of an exaggeration.)

you should be ok, but i don't know about buying things from harbor freight. you will want to make sure you have spare for the trailer which takes up more room. are you towing with an auto or manual? if you have a manual you will need a new clutch very fast. just my personal opinion, but i hate people bringing trophies to car shows. it's such a waste of space. no one wants to know if you got a 5th place at the mickey mouse show and shine.

in that part of the country, its not uncommon to travel for a car show since there's so few in location

just get to cruising speed gently when towing so not to put strain on your engine doesn't matter what car you have comensence

The HF trailers are made by a company called Haulmaster,
    http://www.merchantcircle.com/business/Haulmaster.Trailer.Company.574-266-4400

and from what I hear, they are pretty decent.

A spare is available for this trailer and it hangs on the trailer tongue bar, so it does not impact cargo space.

    Auto

I don't take them to meets; just shows where I'm competing. It is pretty common on this end of the country to show off your awards.

Also back on the whole "maximum speed" thing. I pulled a Uhaul, railed, flat deck trailer down I-25 at 70 miles an hour with signs on the fenders reading, "Maximum Speed: 45 MPH"

I pulled one of those uhaul trailers with my Jeep to help my brother move. Drove 600 miles going 80-90, that 45 mph is a joke.
I actually hit that fender pulling out of a gas station and had to fix it at the gas station. Uhaul never noticed.

engrish? a period or a comma helps form your thoughts.

oh, it's the "famous show corolla" with a different screen name. taking trophies is common for those people who don't win that many trophies or for the 1% who get best of show at the main shows. your better off leaving them at home.
