That incident could be life ending, I couldn't believe it when I saw that... He's still in Budapest in critical condition..... Hope he recovers cause he's a young driver.

Yea the speed in which he was traveling was insane, I'm surprised the coil didn't go through fully through the helmet to just kill him..... Also luckily for him he hit the tire barrier instead of a full on wall with no sandpits cause that right there would've finished him for sure.... He's a good driver and has a long career ahead of him, it'd be a shame if he never comes back.....

Yea man that's a shame that guy died, he surely was way too young but well that's the risk every driver takes and it's the way of the sport.... Hopefully Massa will be good from all this now that he is stable.

Driving isn't as dangerous as people seem to think. Bloody Soccer, where grow ass men kick a stupid ball around has more fatal injuries than motor racing.

No offense against soccer, I used to be a fan, until i stop liking all sports altogether, except racing and martial arts(6th Degree Black belt in art of Nin-Ryu-Kenjutsu).

But those aren't really "sports" per say.

Aren't you just complaining about things that you normally do on the internet now?

Go sit in your little corner were you came from,

I meant overall, and I don't know the answer to that question,
I am guessing your expecting me to say/think zero,
but sorry to disappoint you, but google tells me otherwise

    it says
    Miklos Fehér
    25 january 2004

    Antonio Puerta
    28 of august 2007

    Phil O'Donnell
    19 of december 2007

although I am not very sure how many died in motorsport, probably more than three, but my point is, it's not that dangerous.

There's more injuries waiting to happen in soccer that's for sure but rarely fatal ones.... Now racing wise with that much speed being carried, fuel and fluids which are flammable is more likely that a race car driver might die more than the chances of a soccer player dying of injury... I dk just me...

    Ahem.

Miklos Feher: Died on the field of a heart attack.
Antonio Puerte: Walked off the field, then died of a heartattack.
Phil O'donnell was actually a rugby player (Rugby does not = soccer) and died of a brain hemmorrage or seizure. The reports I found were unclear.

So. With that being said, none of these people actually died from the rough parts of soccer. IE, getting smacked around.) The hemmorrage is a gray area. I didn't look long enough to dig up a bunch of information on Phil O'donnell.

Let's look at racing now, and I know it's more than 5 years, but let's look at what I believe most consider the most tragic racing death to happen post 2000. Dale Earnhardt. The list from wikipedia stats the injuries Earnhardt's body received during a crash, which on video looked fairly mild, included:

    Basilar skull fracture (fatal)
Eight broken ribs on his left side
    Broken left ankle
    Fractured breast bone
    Collarbone and hip abrasions

Number of rugby players who died from physical injuries sustained while playing the game since roughly 1890: 17. (I did not count the somehow numerous times players were stuck by lightning on field, nor did I count the players who died from stuff falling on them in training, nor did I count the players who got cuts, left them untreated and died from tetanus)
Number of drivers who have died from physical injuries on Daytona raceway ONLY since 1950: 27.

Am I saying that both sports don't have their dangers? Not at all. Rugby and soccer are obviously rough sports, similar to American Football. However, it appears to me that physically, racing is far more dangerous.

soccer is not the fatal part, it's the crazy fans you have to worry about rioting.
