    Retrofit headlight re-seal

I got my guinea pig head light prepped for my retrofit i got it in the oven and heated it enough for the glue to melt so i could remove the lense, what i was originally thinking was that i would mount the projector to the housing then mount it to the car without the lense so i can aim the projector, problem though is that i cant get the lense back on to the housing because the glue is in the way and its too hard to the point i cant get it back on fully without melting it again, and i dont want to put my projector in the oven. Heat gun is the only alternative but thats 40 bucks id rather not want to spend. Any one got any ideas?

Post up a pic of what you're describing. To reseal my headlights I HAD to put the projector in the oven. I retro-ed a celica and an acura mdx projector and neither of them were damaged.

What i mean is once i get the projector aimed, i have to put the lense back on the housing but the glue that was left over from un peeling the lense is dried up and i can fit the lense fully into the housing of the head light so i have to melt the glue by putting it in the oven, if its safe for the projector at what time should i put it in for and how long?

I just used 200*F for about 7-10minutes BUT i checked on it to make sure the plastic lens wasn't melting. You'll know when it's time to squish the lens back to the headlight unit, the glue will be ready to go.

I've done it before. I don't know what your projector is made out of.

Acura MDX: black plastic holder for the lens, glass lens, metal cutoff, plastic bowl

Celica Projector: all metal and glass lens

Put it on the oven and it was fine. Then again you could use a heat gun if you don't feel safe about it.

I think i got a solution, i went out to home depot and bought a 20 dollar heat gun that actually works very well... i also bought a drill head so i can cut out a hole instead of drilling a 100 holes in the housing... just waiting for morning to receive my package!!!
