    Wheel Donuts? Ferrari 599XX

DieselStation.com posted an article on the Ferrari 599XX.

Sweet car. I was browsing through the pictures and came across one of the 599's wheel. Over the brake disc is this carbon fiber cover with the words "Wheel Donut" on it. Can anyone shed some light on what this is for? I know Ferrari wouldn't put a cover over the brakes just for aesthetics...would they?

"These have the dual function of improving both aerodynamics and brake cooling."

It's just common sense. They use a carbon fiber plate to cover the brake assembly to smooth it out aerodynamically. Just like under car plates to improve airflow. Brakes get hot, so carbon fiber is perfect. It's lightweight and heat resistant. I'm guessing the carbon fiber is attached somehow and absorbs the heat from the brakes and disperses the heat across the entire wheel donut for better cooling efficiency, since it's a much larger surface area. I just put 2 and 2 together. It's self explanatory.
